ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Gauge Cluster Adjustment

So i was at the local yard the other day and found a pretty decent lookin cluster for my ex for 25 bucks. i just wanted to know if anyone knew the specs for adjustment i.e. (odometer adjustment, fuel gauge , temp gauge, etc.) or is the instrument panel one of those things that shouldnt be fooled with, and i just wasted 25 bucks. if i cant get this one workin right i guess itll be time to cave in and start lookin for a JDM cluster but for now id still like to be able to adjust this one if thats possible. Thanks again all

What do you need to adjust it for?

As to the odometer, I'm sure that's adjustable but (technically) illegal to do so. But I don't know how.

The other gauges are run I believe by reading a millivolt or milliamp setting off of the sensor for each gauge (fuel level sensor, tachometer, and speedometer, as well as engine coolant temperature gauge). the oil pressure sending unit is I believe just a 12v current lighting it up when the opsu closes.

I have no idea how the stock gauges are calibrated according to millivolts, however, or if there's a way to mechanically adjust them as opposed to electrically adjust them.

To adjust a milliamp reading in general, you can I believe apply a resistor to it, such as installing a potentiometer on the line and twisting it until the current changes to the right level. I'm not sure how to adjust a millivolt reading however off the top of my head.

        Not sure if that helps.

i think that maybe this cluster was removed before and the srcews messed with , cause when i hooked it up some of the gauges started acting funny. the tach was unresponsive and it was jumping around , and my old cluster never did that. also the fuel gauge on this cluster shows that theres a half tank when i know its more along the lines of an eighth of a tank or less. does anyone know if messing with the scews on the back would somehow ruin all the readings that it should display ?

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I am having the same issues. I had to change a few bulbs in the cluster for a couple indicators and now my temp and fuel gauges are pegged and the speedo is off by 10 slow now. And all I needed to do was swap some bulbs. I need this thing to be dialed as it's my only runner right meow.

            Help??!!
