ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Starter is dead....

I'm fucking pissed, got out of school today, and went to crank my car up, what happens? My car won't crank....everything lit up fine, but my starter wouldn't wanna turn over to crank, so I kept trying and finally got it to crank. Drove it home, chilled for about 2 hours and as I was about to leave back out, fucking bitch wouldn't start again, and won't start anymore! I'm fucking pissed...I'm broke to get a new or used starter, and I just installed my damn lip on there yesterday....fuck this car....I'm about to burn it to the ground....but what else do you guys thinks could be the problem if it's not the starter? I'm pretty sure it is.

if you hit it with a hammer will it work again? if it does, then yeah its the starter. Something's messed up with it. I bought one at the pick N pull for 20 bucks on half off days. Just get it tested before you actually put it in your car, like at autozone.

yea I did hit with a hammer, and nothing, I had to roll start it, so I'm debating now to either buy a used starter cause yes I'm a cheap ass, and I can't afford a new one....I might hit up the pull apart like you did....oh yea, how hard is it to change the starter? Looks easy, but F22A6 bone stock....

well depends, The manuals are way easier since the starter is basically sticking out of the trans like a jewel waiting to be plucked right in front.

For the auto's you have to kinda use extensions and swivel universal joints to get to it. Honda put it right under a lot of crap. So depending on whether or not you have a stock intake or an aftermarket one, you may have to remove quite a bit. There's only 2 bolts holding it in, in either case. I think they're 14s for the Auto and then 1 17 and 1 14 for the manual.

But I'm using one on my H22 5spd that has 190k on it and its still working well, just sounds kinda rough when cranking lol...which is probably expected from an old starter, but it passed Autozone's testing so i put it on.

Have you checked connections? Have you checked the battery? It could light everything up and not have enough juice to crank the motor. And hitting it with a hammer doesn't always work, only if there is a flat spot on the armature, and you have to tap it while the key is turned. A no crank doesn't necessarily mean a bad starter.

I had all the lights come on and no crank, due to dirty battery cables.

I spent $300 on a battery and starter before I realized it.

Check all your connections FIRST. That's free. Starters aren't free.

Yes, check the connections first. One other thing I would check is the switch that's connected to the clutch pedal (assuming your car is stick). Sometimes they get stuck. If it gets stuck, the starter won't work.

did u try jumping the starter manually liek with a screw driver or 4g-1g ??
i always do this b4 buying anything. so that way i kno for 100% that its getting connection.

also this tells me if the distributor/coil is bad. you said u started it up my kick starting it so your distributor and everything else is working properly. so that leaves your battery, starter, and alternator still in the equasion.

no, and nahh, it wouldn't crank when I got out of school, but I kept trying and it finally did, but when I got home and was about to leave back out, it didn't work at all.

Had this same situation, all the lights and stuff came on but no crank, just click click click. Was about to replace the starter until I checked the batteries neg cable. On the ground end it was completely screwed up.

Can you jump the car, using another car to start it?
