ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Head Gasket?

Ok weird thing here ...On a cold start, even after the car warms up for about 5minutes-I've got lots of white smoke out of the tail pipe. It goes away after I start driving it's fine. The thing is, the normal op. temp doesn't ever go up past a little lower than half on the temp gauge, doesn't climb even after the car has been running for a while, fan kicks on like it should. The smoke has a weird smell to it, at first I thought it might be a little oil blowby, like it was burning it or something, but I've been checking the level on the dipstick constantly, and everything's kosher.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to have to avoid doing a head gasket job, but I'm starting to think I might as well do it, a water pump, timing belt, and valve adjustment while I'm at it. It has some valve tap when cold

    life is good.

Well if the smoke goes away as your driving.. I can tell you its not the headgasket from experiences. It could be running rich your spark plugs ok?
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet

If you were running rich it would be a black coming out of your tailpipe. If the smoke is white it's coolant coming out the pipe that is if it's solid white smoke, if it's somewhat cloudy it could just be condensation. For the smell of the smoke did it smell sweet if so then you have an potientail head gasket problem, have you checked your coolant

Haven't checked the plugs, heh... Figured it was something to do with the gasket but F it, I'll just replace them this week. Better safe than sorry! And I haven't checked the afr, but it'd probably be a swell idea.

Yeah, it does have a weird smell to it. Not oil I didn't think. I just don't want it to get worse and worse to the point where the HG is completely F'd. Happened on my old EG and ended up warping the head. It def. seems like coolant, and the black smoke pertaining to running rich makes sense I didn't think of that. So should I add ********* or HG repair stuff or will that not help it from getting worse?

If it is your headgasket replace it, I wouldnt waste time that could just make things worse. Check your coolant, that could give you a hint.

And it also could just be condensation like said above.

Never add seal repairs to an engine they do more harm then good. I used stop leak in my car when I had my old f22a and ut killed mt water pump and clogged my radiator.

Have you checked your cooling levels yet.

Coolant level is where it should be, even after it's been running and cools down a bit so I can pop the rad fill cover off. It looks like it's been changed recently, smells normal lol, is still nice and green, nothing floating in there haha idk really. Seems fine to me. But yes, the level is norm. Maybe just a leak around the part of the gasket that sits over and between the water jacket and cylinder wall, like a very fine, small separation of the gasket?
