    Hard start after fuel up?

My car starts great any other time. Except right after i get gas

the car takes forever to start but will usually finally start right before my battery gives up.....( older battery but still in ok shape)...

    Any help?
    *edit*
does it every time i get gas no matter the tank level...

Makes loud sucking noise when you take the cap off...

also my fuel gauge doesn't seem to read very accurate from 1/4 tank it only took 10 gallons and then the car overflowed lol....

Are you filling up from "E"? How much gas is in the tank before you fill up? Did you install an OEM fuel pump, or something aftermarket? When was the last time your fuel filter was replaced?

Just a quick question, due to something I've recently run into. When you take your gas cap off, does it make that sucking noise, like "pissssssshwooo"? Lol

This could have something to do with it, or absolutely nothing at all. You never know, but I have heard that losing pressure in you gas tank can cause problems.

I know on other cars that have this problem it has something to do with the EVAP system. Alot of VW owners have this problem, mostly the 2.0 non-turbo from what I've seen. EVAP purge valve is the culprit.

Fuel filter? EVAP? Most common solution for this type of problem.

Is there any chance that it's a spark/ignition problem? Does it ONLY happen after putting gas in the tank, or has there been instances where it has done it other than at the gas station.

NOpe... the car starts great any other time... only when that pressure is released at the cap does it take forever to start...

also my fuel gauge doesn't seem to read very accurate from 1/4 tank it only took 10 gallons and then the car overflowed lol.... ( just some extra info to try and help..)

sounds like evap/pressur problem in your gas tank. Just to be on the same side also replace your fuel filter if it hasnt been done in a while.

well I remember when I first swapped my car, I didn't hook up my EGR or EVAP stuff and my car never used to have that pressurized sound when i removed the cap.

But ever since I put that stuff back in for emissions and to get rid of the Code 12 CEL for EGR, it now does it. But my car starts fine though. Just like any other time, regardless if I fill up gas or not.

But I think the tanks are supposed to be pressurized, from the fuel pump and then when you remove the gas cap, it becomes unpressurized

I dont know anything about the evap system for the fuel. But obviously its got something to do with the pressure in the tank, because it seems like everytime you release it, the vehicle needs to build that pressure back up in order to run. IDK much about fuel systems, but maybe the return line is plugged a lil, causing the pressure to take longer than normal. Or maybe your fuel pump is getting tired and relys on the extra pressure to feed the fuel.
Just some ideas. maybe check fuel pressure before and after you take the gas cap off.
