ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Here's an auto technician's theory. That be me by the way.

Your sending unit is the cause of the gauge misreading. You'll need to change it to fix the inconsistances you are noticing. its what the pump is attached to.

as far as the hard start goes... Your pump is probably starting to get weak. Gas itself is the coolant for the fuel pump. Those who only fill up at near empty will always have replace a pump sooner than those who top off as they go. Your pump may just be getting low as well. One note here as well, over time your tank will accumulate water vapour from the air itself and it will condense inside the tank and settle to the bottom. when the tank gets low the extra sloshing will cause the pump to start to pickup more of the water as it tries to mix, though homogenously.

I'd start out by changing the fuel filter and seeing if this helps out. it could be full of water and junk. if nothing changes, then go ahead and pull the tank and change the sending unit and the pump.

Word to the wise, just having someone check fuel pressure will not condemn a pump, you will have to have them "flow" test it. See how much it will pump out in 20 secs, this should be about a 20once bottles worth of fuel. a good test to do before you yank a full tank!

But obviously its got something to do with the pressure in the tank, because it seems like everytime you release it, the vehicle needs to build that pressure back up in order to run. IDK much about fuel systems, but maybe the return line is plugged a lil, causing the pressure to take longer than normal. Or maybe your fuel pump is getting tired and relys on the extra pressure to feed the fuel.
Just some ideas. maybe check fuel pressure before and after you take the gas cap off.
The evap system is only on the car to burn the vapors that are created within the gas tank as the gasoline evaporates. The car will allow so much pressure within the tank for two reasons. One to test the system, to see that all the required hoses and such are working and that the environment is being protected from the fumes. and Two to create pressure so that the fumes when ready will actually go into the engine. The evap system will almost never cause a running or starting problem. they will only turn on a check engine light. I say almost never, but there are freak occurances here and there.
