ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

gas gauges are not always correct. Fill the car up reset the odo. and check the fuel mileage the proper way.

odds are your cars gas mileage is fine. Alot of people have that issue. the floats get sticky, and dont function properly. My car does the same thing, I can go bout 200 miles b4 hitting the halfway mark, and i'll be lucky to make it 100 miles below it.

I'd do like 93.4dr.22A1 said, fill it up and get a more accurate measure of your mileage. Once you have this info, then make the other adjustments (O2 sensor, etc), and you'll see how much of a change you actually made.

Well what I would do, is check your fuel filter, plugs, wires, air filter, and O2 sensor, cap and rotor.

Also pay attention to how many gallons your putting in, and reset your ODO, and see what your gas mileage is.

As stated above are cars gas gauges are not that acurate. lol.

How horrible is your gas mileage?

22 - 23 MPG is average. Any mpg below 22 is horrible.
I suffered 17MPG on my CB7 because it was running very rich.
You can even smell the unburned gas on the exhaust.

                        Some unmentioned factors are:

                        - Clogged EGR ports
                        - Clogged cat
                        - Mafunctioning spark plug wires
                        - Incorrect igniton timing

Check all of the other fellow members said and follow these also.

PS: You cannot clean an oxygen sensor. These are extreme sensitive components that don't want their tip to be touched by anything.
Recommended replacing the sensor instead of cleaning it.

yes i found that out by asking my auto teacher this morning
and how would i go about cleaning egr ports/valves
they shouldnt be bad since i only have 84k miles
wires and cap are from 91 but have new ngk iridiums
found out in that process need new spark tube seals
                            thanks all for the advice

You would have been fine (Unless the tires are incredibly old and shot). The door jamb recommends 28 lbs for ride characteristics but the tires themselves have a much higher max tire pressure listed on the sidewall. Check it and see. Although 40 is on the high end I agree. I run my tires at 30 psi dead cold front and rear. (I use a bicycle pump to adjust the pressure in them after the car has been parked overnight and it has been out of the sun).

I get 30-33 mpg on my 92 DX manual but autos get lower (in the mid-twenties is common).

Following the others' recommendation, fill the tank up all the way, drive 100-150 miles or so, then refill and see how much gas you actually used. Hopefully you don't actually have a problem.
