ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    "Intake Mod"?...Seriously?

Check this out. I was browsing ebay and came across it.

Look at the outrageous power gain claims.

Anybody think this could be at all functional?

I've seen the ads for the Tornado, and they claim similar gains. I'm not sure if a cheap ebay knockoff would be as good. I'm still sceptical on these things though.

This belongs in Deev's power-gain thread.

Actually, these things have been around for quite some time, even the fake ones. I bought an Si CRX back in 2006, and when I went to change to air filter out, it had one of them installed; tossed it immediately.

this is nothing but a restriction in the intake. spinning the air before the plenum does absolutely nothing because as soon as it hits the plenum, the air gets backed up and stops its spin. dont buy it.

also, in the instance that this breaks (not that likely as its just a single piece of metal but you never know with ebay) you'll have a triangular piece of aluminum flying through your throttle body into your intake manifold and down your runners. if it doesnt get caught in your throttle body and hold it open (and you thought toyotas accellerated when you didnt want them to!), it will either get caught in the runner or go straight on through and jam in a valve. bad news.

Ask them if it comes with warranty to back up its claims

sure it can, it claims UP TO 50hp. 0.05hp is on the way to 50

Adding a restriction to your intake is hardly the way to make power...

It IS important for turbluence to be limited. Turbulent air doesn't flow quickly, and creates its own restriction, basically. However, a properly designed intake pipe and manifold will maximize this... not some little piece of metal.
