ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Check and make sure all your grounds are clean and tight...also why not get the alt tested just in case. Wouldn't hurt to test the battery too

if your running alot of stuff off the battery you could be drawing more amps then the battery you have is rated.
something like this would most def work.
they also sell altenators for the same reason.

2 things... alternator connections, or belt/pulley may be slipping.
                Is the alternator new?

Ah. Gotya. Same problem happened to me. On my car, the bolt that holds the pulley onto the alternator was loose, causing the exact same symptoms. The pulley could spin on the bolt, and then produced a low charge voltage at driving speeds, (2.5k RPMs and up)
but it seemed to charge normally when at idle. (under 2.5k RPMs)
tighten the bolt, and hopefully, those problems should go away. Just make sure the alt didn't kill your battery. (it did mine)

with a properly workin alternator you should be in the 14-14.6 range at idle.
under accessory load you should be in the area of 13.3 or more.
a fully charged battery should read 12.6 volts standing.
if you are reading ANYWHERE under 12.6 under load than you should replace your alternator if your battery is indeed fully charged.

an alternator is NOT a battery charger.
its only purpose is to recharge what little bit of energy you spent whilst cranking the engine over. they do not like being overworked due to an undercharged battery. if you overwork it you burn it out. pretty simple.

keep a strong charge on your battery at all times. this will make your charging system happy

i'm almost POSITIVE (no pun intended) that the alternator DOES charge the battery! Really what the hell else does it do... The alternator constantly charges the battery, all the time. And most cars run on the battery and the alternator is always recharging it. thats why they have voltage regulators... to keep from overcharging the battery. I will agree to an extent that you really shouldn't rely on an alternator to charge your crappy battery, but it will sure try. Yeah, it is somewhat hard on the alternator to run off of it all the time, (IE jump start your dead and never good battery) but lets face, the battery doesnt keep itself charged up, and something has to run all those lights and stereo and blah blah blah... Just saying
