ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I had a simular issue, whats the mileage on the engine? it could be your head gasket or maybe your o-rings. By all means im a novice when it comes to fixing cars but im making my way. Does the car stop smoking after it reaches its regular temp?. I ultimately just replaced my engine cause it smoked up an manhattan block until it heated up. Kind of embarassing and tickets didnt make it any better. Good luck dude

I can barely understand what you wrote.

        Coolant makes white smoke.
        Fuel makes black smoke.
        Oil makes blue smoke.
Condensation in a cold exhaust pipe makes steam.

Those are the things that may come out of your exhaust.

Definitely sounds like a leaky head gasket. When it's parked, coolant leaks into your cylinders, then burns off when you start it up giving off white smoke. It's probably a slow leak, so it's not evident once it's warmed up, but it will get worse.

Remove your rad cap (make sure the coolant is cold first) and then start your car. If the coolant starts bubbling out of your rad it's a bad head gasket. Another test you can do is a coolant pressure test. I suggest you have one done before your car leaves you stranded on the side of the road.

x2 0n the head gasket.when the m0t0r is c0ld the gasket is c0nsidered set in place.but when it heats up the gasket expands and seals up the leaky h0les.

Yeah, I would think that it's more a fact that when the engine isn't running and the coolant is still hot (expanded) it continues to leak into the offending cylinder. Then the coolant cools (contracts) and stops leaking. when the OP starts the car there is an enitial ploom of white smoke that will disapear after the sitting coolant has completely burned out of the cylinder and exhaust.

Then it may seem to dissapear. But if it is indeed a blown head gasket he will be able to see/detect (smell) traces of smoke/burning coolant once the coolant has had a chance to heat up and expand once again.
