    Clutch Pedal Problem!

Aight so i don't know exactly when it does it, but sometimes my clutch pedal will sometimes stay about halfway down sometimes. It's not disengaging the clutch or anything but it's just not coming all the way back up. I have recently put in a new clutch and flywheel but I seem to remember it doing it also before. And I have filled the clutch fluid resevoir (that's not how you spell that) all the way up thinking it was a lack of pressure build up problem. Tell me what you think! Thanks Guys!

Its probably a problem with either your Clutch Master or Slave cylinders.

when I did my auto to 5spd swap my clutch pedal was stuck at the floor because there was air in the system, try bleeding the clutch. Pretty much the same way you bleed the brakes.

x2......bleeding the clutch would definitely help out and also are you leaking clutch and check your clutch fluid as well

i'm having the same issue as well, only i've bled the clutch over and over with no luck.

i think its' time for a cmc. advance auto sells slave cylinders for $21, just put mine in yesterday. if that's no it, a master cylinder is probably what you need

            life is good.

is it possible that the cmc can cause the clutch pedal to have endplay?i checked the clutch system out, bled it,and the clutch system is ok however when im driving the clutch pedal seems to stay 1/2 way down and i have to use my foot to bring it back up,i looked at it and saw the pin with the cotter pin move alot like if that hole was missing like a washer or something, but now that you guys talk about the cmc..that can cause the pedal to have endplay?

Yes. If your pushrod is not adjusted correctly it can cause this, or if the pushrod is not connected correctly to the pedal. There shouldn't be the kind of freeplay around the cotter pinned joint that you are describing.

there is a pushrod adjustment available at the back of the pedal assembly where the pushrod attaches to the clutch pedal.

It is generally unlikely but it is a possiblity.

It's most likely a faulty cmc, not the slave cylinder, OR the lines haven't been bled correctly. Try jacking the car up in the rear so the cmc is level with the ground, then rebleed the lines.

block your front wheels so the car doesn't roll on you or jam the brake pedal shut with a 2x4 against the driver's seat.

The pushrod adjustment is, I'm guessing, mostly a matter of fine tuning. I doubt it's off as much as you are saying yours currently is but it can't hurt to check the clutch pedal freeplay.

Same problem! But problem fix i recommend u buyin the slave and the master cylinder from the dealer or napa. Cause my first couple ones I bought was from advance 'fail' second set from autozone 'fail' napa beautiful, fantastic! It work! Dealer? Expensive but u wouldn't be disappointed

i know what you mean...when i used to work for nissan there was a honda dealer like almost next door and when i needed something for the cd i had or any of ma buddies hondas i would go there, they would give me a fair price but if i was a regular im sure that place will deff rape my pockets for sure!ima go ahead and replace both cmc and csc and take it from there, thinking about it my clutch pedal is probably having lots of endplay due to the cmc's faulty shaft.

It's unlikely but possible that it's due to the cmc's pushrod. More likely, you have an internal leak in the cmc that causes it not to hold pressure when the clutch pedal is released (assuming you don't have an external leak, which would cause you to actually lose fluid).

This is all pretty academic though because to fix it you just have to go buy a new cmc. Actually, that's not true. You can get a rebuild kit (new seals and pushrod assembly and stuff) for about $30 which is a lot less than a new cmc from the dealer. However the rebuild on a cmc may be more involved with the one I have done on my slave cylinders so I'd suggest just buying a new part unless you're into rebuilding stuff and have a set of internal snap ring pliers (pretty sure an internal snap ring holds the assembly together) and access to compressed air.

I've rebuilt my slave cylinder (the kits for those are like $12) which is a lot easier (no snap ring pliers needed, although compressed air needed) and had no problems with them in two years so that's a way to go with the slave cylinder when it comes to replacement time.

Also, I know others have had trouble with their aftermarket cmc and slave cylinders, but I haven't had any. I got the Fenco brand from my local autozone and they've been great. I also have a Fenco rear drum cylinder on one side and that is working great, too.

                            Update:

I was taking a apart a brake master cylinder yesterday and didn't want to get out my compressor. Instead I just used a bike pump to force the piston out. Blocked all the holes but one with rubber plugs and put the head against the mc and pumped about 5 times fast. That was enough to blow the piston out of the cylinder.

So, in case anyone wants to rebuild a hydraulic component like this, you don't really need an air compressor per se, just air pressure to work with, and a bike pump works fine.
