ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    A/C problem

i had a problem with the A/C in my car it took me a while to get around to dealing with it. It had a bad compressor. Before refilling it I was table to vac it out.

I'm not sure if that may have been the only problem as the AC as it takes a long time before getting cold just seems weak in general. I have checked the AC pressure and it looks good but i'm at a loss as to what next to look at. I did replace the blower motor a while back with a new one it blows strong. Any ideas??

Which refrigerant are you using? When you replaced the condensor, did you pull it into a vacuum again and let it set to be sure there were no leaks in the system?

R22a, I replaced the compressor and vacked it after the replacement. Do i need to look at the condensor?

I really hope that's a typo and you mean R12a. If you used R22a, that's probably the problem. The basic principles of the system are the same, but R22a is not going to work in your car's AC.

Now, assuming that you used R12a, when you vacced it down, did you leave it alone and make sure it held vaccum for 15 or 20 minutes? If it doesn't hold vacuum for that long, you've got a leak somewhere. If you can get one to the engine bay, a black light should show you where the leak is (most refrigerants are treated with UV dye just for this purpose).

        Semi-related story:
My best friend who is also the guy that trained me for HVAC used to work for an apartment complex where some of the teenage kids were huffing refrigerant out of AC units. (NOT A GOOD IDEA AT ALL). He followed one home, told the kid's mom what was happening and that she was going to be charged for repairs to the condesning unit the kid had damaged.
She got all shitty with him, told him to go to hell, her kid would never do anything like that, etc. My buddy asked her to call the kid to the door and when he got there, turned his blacklight flashlight on and the kids face and hands lit up like a lamp. You can't explain that one away.

correction, I converted it over to R-134a after replacing the compressor. i do notice is that the pressure seems to drop after turning the AC on. I was thinking on letting a professional redo the vac and refill.

Couldn't hurt. Most places will give you a cheap examination, then you can decide if you want to try to fix it or have them do it.
