ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    disc brake swap

I posed this question in the image gallery because i posted pics of the new swap i bought, but figured this would be the appropriate venue to find some answers.

I recently purchased a rear disc swap from a 96 EX to swap onto my 93 LX. Trailing arms, knuckles, rear cross member, everything. First question is whether or not the ebrake cables will work. I can't seem to find any info on this, will they work? Second is quite simply will the rear cross member work? I assume so, since uh, everything else from 97 on down bolts right up...

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!!

    PICS!

The trailing arms bolt up as for the cross member I heard that it won't. The cables I heard mixed things about

When doing the rear disc brake conversion on my 93 LX, I sourced parts from a 94 EX. Just like you I got everything from the donor car, trailing arms, knuckles, etc. The only things I left were the unibody, the fuel tank, and the wheels/tires.

Yes, the cross member will work. all 4 bolts go in just where they're supposed to with no problems. In fact, if you wish to utilize the sway bar from the EX Accord, you're gonna have to use the cross-member, as the LX cross member doesn't have the mounting points for a sway bar on it.

As for the ebrake cables, that's hit or miss. I bolted the ones I got onto my LX, and they were too long. I ended up buying both cables new from the dealer to remedy this. Purchase the ebrake cables for a 93 EX Accord, and they'll bolt up and work perfectly.
I'm not sure if any other e-brake cable will work or not, but the only difference between my 93 LX, and the 94 EX I sourced the parts from was that it was a 5-speed, and mine is an auto, but I think, that the difference is the length of the wheelbase. I believe the cd5 is a little longer chassis, not sure on this though, but I would assume that that's why the e-brake cables mount up like they should, but are too long to connect at the e-brake handle.

Good luck to you! It's a relatively easy swap, but a lot of work involved to do it right, and heavy parts too, so can be rather back breaking, even if you have access to a lift, as I do. Let us know how your experiences go!

Thanks a lot for the info guys.

That's good the crossmember will work, cause that means I can grab the swaybar.

The car I sourced it from is a manual coupe, as is my car, so I'm hoping that the ebrake cables will work...

The ONLY part you need to swap is the knuckle. I bought pretty much the same setup as you minus the crossmember. After many comparisons and measurements I figured out that you can just swap the knuckle and call it a day. Ebrake cables should work fine, I'm sure they're long enough.

During the course of all your research, did you happen to find out whether or not the e-brake cables have a different part number? The connections at the ends of said cables are identical, so the only things left to change are the mounting locations and cable length. I can tell you that the cables from the '94 EX manual I sourced bolted up just fine everywhere they were supposed to, the only problem was that they were too long to connect to the e-brake handle. I ordered the e-brake cables for a '93 Accord EX, and they were the perfect length, and bolted up just like they belonged there.

Not sure about ebrake cable part numbers... I figured that if they were too long you could take up some of the slack underneath the car. However, you just gave me an idea. If the 5th gen cables are longer than the 4th gen, I should look into getting a set because with my bb6 center console swap I could have used a little more length.

Cool. If I remember correctly, they were about 3-4 inches too long, I really didn't see any good way to take up the slack, besides, e-brake cables and suspension components are the very last thing I wish to have to "rig". lol
