ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Very HOT under hood temperatures

This related to my brothers 1993 ex 5 speed coupe

One day he told me the engine bay was very hot. So hot he couldn't get the oil cap off.

We figured the problem was caused by his exhaust leak ( Now before you think that couldnt cause it read on )

Today we replaced the exhaust and found out all 3 bolts on the exhaust manifold to downpipe connecton had backed their way off so it was completly disconnected putting hot exhaust gases right into the engine bay

We replaced the whole exhaust today and now his car is as quite as stock

We got home and the engine bay is REALLY hot. The car isnt over heating though.

    What would cause this?

does the fan come on? we need numerical figures. hot can be 104 degrees like in vegas or 400 degrees to bake my pizza.

get a non contact pyrometer and shoot it at the metal coolant housing, the one that connects with the upper rad hoses.
    I <3 G60.

0.5mm Oversized Stainless valves and bronze guides available. Pm me please.

do you have the heat shield over the exhaust?
that can cause the temperature inside the hood to rise
most people think the heat shield doesnt help but it does

I do not have an exact temperature reading but i can say that the valve cover and oil cap expanded enough to make it impossible to remove the oil cap lol

The sheild was on the car before we swapped exhausts. When we took it off all 3 bolts broke off so we didnt bother drilling the holes out and installing it.

The sheild is missing now but its MUCH hotter then my car. My car also lacks a sheild

If the car isnt overheating then where else could the heat be comming from?

( i will take a temperature gauge to it later )

Haha funny story. After we got back home from driving on the highway ( fans off the whole time ) we get out of the car to inspect the under good temperatures. Right as i tough somthing the fan kicks on and apperently we left somthing just slighty in the fan. So the fan turns on making this horribly loud sound because this wire brush handle is partially stick in it lol

So to answer your question: yes the fan turns on after you turn the car off. You have to wait about 5 minutes before it comes on though. Well 1-5

I did the "HOOD LIFT" that most "ricers" are doing now.

Supposedly it lets the engine cool faster by letting the engine bay air relief near the windshield wipers.

Simple task: open hood, on the HOOD side, remove bottom bolt, add washer between hinge and hood, put in bolt, repeat to the other side, and BAM! Lifted hood!
