ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Overheating problem please help!

A while ago my fan started to run when I turned my car off. I found it odd because my car wasn't running hot, and it never did it before. My mechanic said there was only a problem if the fan didn't run though, so i thought nothing of it. But tonight my temp gauge started to get really close to the top, but then it would just randomly drop to about half way to 3/4 again. It would keep doing this, I would even speed up to like 35-40 once it started to read hot, and the temp would go down again. After i got home, i popped the hood and felt the engine, and it felt a little hotter than normal, but it wasn't steaming or anything. But the temp gauge was reading hot again. What do you guys think is wrong with my car? I think i'm going to lightly spray the radiator with a heated pressure washer to clean it out, however i doubt that this would affect the temp this much, considering it doesn't even look that dirty.(besides things like the occasional bug or something)

It could be a few things.

First thing that comes to mind is the thermoswitch for the fan when the car is running (by the thermostat housing, 2 wire connector). The one at the front of the engine is for turning on the fan after the car is shut off (which you confirmed as working). Have you seen the rad fan on while the car is still running? A fan that doesn't run while the car is on would explain the temp rising then lowering when you speed up (more air flow through rad).

May also be a thermostat that isn't opening fully, or as you mentioned, a clogged rad or dirty rad fins on the outside, or low coolant.

take off the radiator cap and make shure the radiator is full of coolant, then put the cap back on and start the engine and let it run at idle and warm up and just let it keep running and watch the temp gauge , have a seat next to the engine and watch to see if both fans cycle on .........

Only the passenger side fan will come on when it reaches a certain temp. The driver's side fan only comes on when the AC is in use.
