ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

I'm talking about the 3 bolts that go into the head

to hold the Power Steering mount.

I got top 2 in. Oh well too late anyway. ><! Let hope that screw is not that important.

          if i can i would ><!

That alternator can't come out ><!

The Alternator nut got stuck when i try to take it out.
The end of the bolt where the nut coming off is soooooo rusted that it stuck in there. When i try to turn it the whole thing keep on turning. There is no room for me to cut it or anything. So that Alternator Nut got to come off before i can take the alternator out and bracket out ><! FML

When the alternator fails, will you remove the whole block to have it repaired?

Any suggestion? There is no room to do anything.

I was thinking when it failed I'll take it to the shop and it become their problem ><!

What are you talking about, the alternator bracket pivot bolt that is like 3.5 inches long and goes through the bracket and the hole in the alternator?

punch it out with a hammer and punch once you are sure it's free of the threads.

If you're talking about a stud on the block that the alternator mounts on, use a lot of pb blast. A few times a day. For several days. Be patient.

I don't know, it's hard to picture and I'm not near my car.

an air chisel will cut through any nut on your car if you want to go that route.

but if you just want to roll with two mounting nuts, go for it. Make sure those two are tight. There will probably be some consequence down the road but who knows.

                  Not the pivot

the one underneath that go along with adjuster bolt.

top have no issue. the bottom bolt is the issue.

one end is flat and other is just a nut with adjuster bolt

Ok, that's the one that "slides along" the adjuster bracket as you turn the adjuster nut. And when you tighten it it clamps on the bracket to hold the alternator (or power steering pump) position.

I'd spay it every day with pb blast for a week then give it a try. If that doesn't work, give it another week. Once it's out, clean it up with a wire brush and maybe some Naval Jelly to dissolve the rust, or simply get a replacement bolt.

If the PB blast doesn't work, since you have to remove the alt. bracket anyway to replace the p.s. pump bracket bolt, I bet that if you just unbolt the alternator bolt brackets mounting bolts from the block the whole alternator assembly will tilt toward the crankshaft pulley (because of the tension from the belt) and you can pivot it and remove it like that, then just do the same thing in reverse with the alternator belt placed slackly around the alt. pulley to put it back on without ever touching the adjuster assembly. The mounting bolts will, effectively, retighten the alternator belt as you torque them in.

As to your initial question, which is is it ok to leave the bottom machine screw off of the actual power steering pump mounting bracket that bolts to the block, I think you'll be fine because the primary force acting to pull on that bracket is downwards, so that part of the bracket is always going to want to be pressing against the block anyways when the bracket is secured at the top.
