If you blow a fuse you usually blow it for a reason. It blows to protect the rest of the circuit components.

Fuses really last for years and even decades so simply replacing it and not finding the fault to begin with is just looking for trouble.

I also dont recommend increasing the amp rating of the fuse, you are likely to blow something else. The fuse are of different ratings as the components attached to the circuit vary in sensitivity. Placing a higher than recommended fuse will damage them (or some unseen effect) before triggering the fuse.

    ------------------------

I recommend you open up your map light.

    Check all connections are correct.

    Check all connections are secure.

    Check all connections are insulated.

I remember with a set of interior lights i had (not a CB) a strand of a wire - fine as a hair (since a wire is made up of tiny wires twisted togetter) accidentally made contact with the roof metal and blew my fuse.

Logically speaking (im not trying to be Spock here) if all was ok before the interior map light mod, then probability would dictate the likely source of the problem is the light mod itself.

I'd even go so far as taking it off all together and restoring all oem connections to take it out of the equation to confirm it is the source of the problem.

I ran the power to my maplight from the Dome light. Rand the wires around the sunroof and everything's been fine since the install. Did you follow the DIY on here?

          wiring

Could be a short. Do not run a higher fuze you could melt wires together or worse. Check the wiring again. If you have a test light it would be very simple

check how your connections are, and that no wires are exposed.

Get the white power wire from the pigtail and extend it and tap into the power wire in the dome light. make sure you securely tape it all back up with electrical tape.

Get the black ground wire from the pigtail, extend it and make a loop of exposed wire at the end and wrap this around a metal bolt to ground it. wrapping it multiple times and securely will ensure you have a good ground. you may choose to use the metal bolts that hold up your rear view mirror, or you can ground it at one of the bolts used to mount the domelight, which is what i did.

make sure no wires are exposed, and that only the necessary length of wire is needed... iono man. this is the best i can suggest, i didn't expect a mod like this to blast a fuse :\

Almost exactly the same as my example above (except mine was a strand and yours was the whole wire).. Lol.

One thing i forgot to mention which just came back to me now is on some light assemblies the bolts used to secure them to the roof can sometimes be the same ones used as earth. This must be the negative (sometimes you need a eye connection - the round connector intended for bolts.

So whilst the light may work unbolted, if you don't keep the above in mind (inadvertently used the -ve circuit as your +ve) you will short it once its bolted and switched on.

Something to bear in mind when doing these lights (which may seem straight forward) but not entirely.

It's ok as it just means your wires are reversed.
