ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

93 Accord Idle Goes Up And Down

Never heard of the PCV or IAC causing an erratic idle but okay.
95% of the time these symptoms mean your FITV located on the right front of your intake plenum is worn out. You can remove it and clean it as well as take it apart(3 screws) CAREFULLY and tighten the plastic nut inside to being just firm.
After doing that set your base ignition timing and base idle (howto found in either diy or tech sections) and see how it idles. If it's still acting up you'll need to replace the valve. My Member's Ride Thread

Search for threads started by hondafan81 and put "base" as a thread topic only search term.Originally posted by cb786 View Posti tighten that already still the same but how do i set my base idle
While possible, it's unlikely the IAC is causing this specific issue. The FITV goes bad much more often than the IAC. The OP has better chances of fixing the problem by replacing the FITV than the IAC. Usually when the IAC goes bad it just become stuck in one position causing a low or high idle.Originally posted by Johnz826 View PostReplace the IAC sensor. Give that a shot. Curious, how many miles r on the motor?
What's happening here is the FITV is malfunctioning allowing too much air in. The ECU detects this and turns the IAC way down. This drop in idle causes the FITV to close further dropping idle. The ecu detects this and adjusts the IAC way up to compensate. The process repeats over and over.My Member's Ride Thread

My idle was also jumping around erratically, at least until my car got warm. I took my FITV apart and it was spotless inside I was expecting it to be filthy, after that I decided to take the coolant nipples off the bottom (3 more screws) and checked it out, it was full of nasty, and one of the two passages was completely blocked, I cleaned it, and it hasn't given me issue since, maybe not the same problem as yours, but something to consider in case you didn't take your fitv that far apart, Good luck!Last edited by DunKrS; 09-27-2010, 01:43 PM.
