ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    ECU is bad

Ok I was driving down the road to work yesterday morning when my radio turned itself off my rpm and speedometer gauges both fell to 0 as well as my turning signals stopped. The car will set and idle but when I put it in gear it sputters badly and won't go anywhere and sometimes it won't let me get it out of park. We replaced the battery with a new one and it will crank and idle normally so we ruled out the altenator. So my question is would the p12 ecu from a f22a1 prelude work? Thanks.

The search function would have answered this for you.
If you have the f22a1 or a4, then yes. If you have an a6, it will work, but you'll lose the secondary butterflies activating, and it's not really mapped for the more aggresive cam.

Ok so I replaced the ECU but the car is still acting crazy. Hooked the battery up to a battery charger and car starts fine and will run fine for a minute. However it slowly starts to bog down and eventually shuts off. When it does this the gears in the gagues have a square around P and D4. Anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like a broken ground to me. Check all grounds and electrical connections.

I don't know how you arrived at the bad ECU conclusion... there's nothing that suggests that at all.

use a volt meter and check the batt voltage when the car is running should be aprox 14.5 volts , you might have a bad alternator..... if you replaced the battery with a new one and it cranked and and idled normally , that doesnt mean your alternator is charging.....

The battery cables are another thing that can cause problems. Make sure they are clean and tight. I've had my car shut off while driving due to loose/dirty cables.

old honda tek has a point, but if the alternator wasn't working, the battery would end up being completely dead after the car has been running for a bit. It would be running off of battery power only. That IS a possibility, but it doesn't sound like the case from your description.
