ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    auto tranny not working!

ok i bought a 92 accord ex coupe. the guy that i bought it from told me that the tcm was and was the reason for it going in 4th gear when i put it in drive.
but ive changed the tcm and the solenoids on the tranny and it still does it. what else can cause the problem. and the d4 light is not on.

well... is your check engine light on? but right off the top of my head. it sounds like a linkage problem.

I'd check to see if it's throwing any codes
        MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

sounds like its time for a new or rebuilt one. if you have changed all the above go to a shop and ask them to take a look at it. make sure again that the TCU is not bad . if you have changed it , look to see if there is any water that can or has got on it. if it smells like burned wires that's a bad thing too. some parts that you buy new can be faulty . good luck.

A man that keeps looking back can't see whats in front of him.

Checking the codes takes about 30 seconds. How busy are you?

WOW the lousy information in this thread hurts my head...

The D4 light is an indication of a TCU error code. A LOT of people assume that means the TCU is bad, and they waste their money replacing it, only to get the same problem over and over again.
The TCU is most likely working properly, and telling you what isn't working.

Read the "read this first" thread at the top of this section. Click on the link that tells you how to read the error codes. Follow it. Fix whatever is wrong. Reset the TCU (pull the battery cables for a few minutes). It should work just fine. If not... then your transmission may be shot.

And yes, change your fluid, as I'm sure it's long overdue. Most automatics are. Don't do a flush, just a change. Use OEM Honda ATF ONLY... nothing else.

The check engine light has nothing to do with the transmission, aside from 2 codes that really only rely on feedback from the transmission to control the engine.... they wouldn't tell why it is doing what is happening here.

if that D4 light is on, there is a code.

Most autoparts store employees are idiots...

My d4 light isn't on either! When I took the tcm out and turned the key twice it came on but when I plug it back up it doesn't come on when key is turned twice! So I really don't know what's happening!

sorry man but not to be a jerk but if your talking about Advanced auto parts they cannot check your car for any engine light or ( S ) light or anything, our cb's are OBD1 and they don't have a connector for that, more than 99% of autoparts stores only do OBDII

and to be honest I have literaly had his exact problem but you'll have to give more info on what your problems are heres a link to the tread i made about my issues with some pics if you think it's the TCU then open it and look inside http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...05#post2676405

If the old TCU gave the D4 light, and the new one doesn't... the new one may be bad. The old one might be fine. Try swapping back to the old one. Something is definitely wrong with some component for sure (unless the tranmission itself is completely borked.)

Did you check your fluid level?

Well lets just throw in a special peice of information

If the d4 light is FLASHING, if its on solid its obviously working right
