ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    92 lx Dies suddenly????????

this isn't my car but my friends. they said it died about a week ago in the cold. they waited fifteenth min. and it started right up no probs after. two days later it happens again. So i when out to help and it turn over but won't catch until you let go of the key?????? i have tried the main realy the starter plugs and wires and timing all are on point what else could in be??????

P.S. if you let it sit for 15-20 mins it starts right up BUT now when it has gotten to operating temp. i putts and eventually dies??? and you wait again. Sometimes you can keep it going by "pat-ing" the gas.

          x2 on the ignitor inside...

open the 3 screws for the cap, then the 2 screws inside with 4 electrical connectors on it.
that is the ignitor, replace that.
I know when I had same issues, this was the problem.

FIRST, determine if you have an fuel, spark, or air problem before you start throwing parts at it. And if you are going to be throwing parts at it at least you will know you are throwing them in the right direction.

Pull a plug out and ground it to see if you are getting spark. if not, it is most likely the ignition control module in the distributor or possibly the coil. Are you getting a signal to your tachometer when you crank the motor over? If it is getting spark, listen for your fuel pump turning on when you turn the ignition on. You can also CAREFULLY disconnect the fuel line at the rail to confirm that it is pressurized and getting fuel. Have a rag ready to catch spraying fuel if it is pressurized. Check all your fuses of course before anything. Also, are you sure there is fuel in the gas tank? I wasn't getting fuel at one point and it turned out that my gas gauge was not functioning properly and it was out of gas. You just need to first narrow down if it is a fuel, spark, or even air problem. Good luck.
