ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Kill switch ideas

I'd like to make a few kills switches, but I don't know what to cut.
pr3pg4lyfe gave me the idea of cutting the main relay, and I might cut the starter. Any other Ideas?
    Off limits:
    Fuel pump
    (Most likely) Injectors.
    MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

I'm way too paranoid to do that, but at the same time I do worry about my wires. That's why I haven't made one yet.

I have a kill switch toggle to my fuel pump. I forgot the color for the positive. Look up the wiring diagram in your Haynes repair manual if you have one. mount the toggle where noon can find it, and also easy to access if you daily drive it. i have mine completely locked away because my CB is stored 90% of the time.

I know I said off limits, but I could have one mounted in a separate location for long term storage. That way I could park it and not have to worry about someone finding my other switches.

Thats a good idea. Just have them piggy back, or 2 totally separate. Like starter, and Main PGM-FI relay for example.

              Another question:
Would it be ok to just cut the ground for each case?

I cut the positive because it is a live feed. so it kills the power directly to the unit itself. Im sure it wouldn't really matter though.

I was worried the varying electricity amounts would do bad things if I used the wrong switches.

On the Main relay it wont matter, a single toggle will do the job. If your going to be doing a starter kill, i would recommend something a little bigger like a 40 amp toggle and a 40 amp fused relay to prevent any damage.

If I go too big, will it matter?
Ie for any positive I cut, use the 40 amp toggle?
Also, why use a relay If I'm using the large switch?

no it should only matter is you use to small of wiring and relays. I use the fused relay because it is basically just like a fuse distribution block for car audio, Just a differant name.
Only the starter should use that to be safe. Main relay you can just use a simple toggle in the positive with a fuse on the non-live feed side.

Wire it so that the e-brake has to be electrically activated. By this I mean, it has to be up one click at all times, or the main relay dies, no visible switch to be found anywhere, and I doubt a thief would ever think that the e-brake not being up is why the car won't start. If I remember correctly, you are automatic, so you can park and leave the e-brake off.

Wouldn't that cause me to drive with the e-brake on? That would cause all sorts of problems, brakes dragging, abs shutting off.
But If I did it the other way, meaning pull it up on click to disable the relay, then the thief could see the brake light indicator on my dash.
