ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    master cylinder question

I know that there are akebono and nissin brakes on cb's, but is there any difference in the master cylinder beyond being either abs or non abs? I need a new one and I was curious.

I learned the hard way. There is a difference in sizes and stopping power.
Search my posts for the exact info, but one of the fittings on the ABS M/C is a different size. For the Non abs M/C, they are both the same size.

ABS M/C has more stopping power.

30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

      Nope

      To answer the question asked...

I do not believe that there is a difference in master cylinders between nissin and akebono brakes and the master cylinder.

I looked on majestic to see if they listed two for any accords and didn't find any. They usually list akemono or nissin if there is a separation.

I am not 100% positive though.

and yes, as you already knew there is a difference between abs, and non abs.

Edit: and I don't know remember if we can run a prelude BMC, I think somewhere in this forum you can find a thread on that, if I remember correctly it has a larger diameter, and hence displaces more fluid (theoretically more force to stop) you may even be able to run a larger brake booster. Anyway I mention this just so you know. I have OK tires, and ebc green pads, and I can lock all 4 wheels (I have 4 disc and 40/40 prop vale) at 20mph with my setup. So no need for better anything until I get better tires.

i'll look into the prelude setup, it might be worth it if i can find one for a decent price. I also need to swap a brake rotor, ugh. I'm not looking forward to that.

What's the size difference between the ABS and non ABS MC's? Isn't the ABS MC a larger diameter? If so, then it does not have more stopping power, it has less. It is larger to aid with the additional volume flow the ABS system needs and to reduce pedal travel. Displacing more fluid does not just = more stopping power, that is wrong.

You do need to specify whether you have a ABS or non-ABS car though, the masters are in fact different.
