ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Ball joint cut, are my knuckles hosed?

I just got some parts from a guy to do a rear disc conversion on my '90, and just noticed it looks like the ball joint was cut off, and the remainder of the bolt is still stuck in the knuckle. Is this going to be a big deal to remove, or will an easyout do the trick? The nut looks funky like it locks, or something... Has anyone had to do this before? Will I have problems using the control arm/ball joint from the drum setup?

Get the nut off if you can than use a punch and a hammer to pop it out.

OK I was worried because it looked like the part that was cut was actually fused or welded to the knuckle or something, but I filled a couple little ziplock cups up with penetrating oil and submerged the whole end of each knuckle into the oil for a couple days, and not only did all the rust and gunk brush right off so I could actually see what was going on, but the nuts came right off with hardly any effort. Now I can see that the bolt should totally come out too with a quick hit of a punch and hammer.

I think I might just pick up new UCAs/ball joints too because the current ones on the car are probably shot, or will be after I take a fork and hammer to the joint (though I haven't actually looked at it yet). Is that generally a good idea? I've read that just replacing the ball joint without the UCA isn't a good, but I've also read people arguing the opposite.

On the rears, it's just as cheap to replace the whole arm as only the ball joints.
