ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Heater stuck on HOT

Ok so i have herd a few people on the site mention things about the dials that control the air vents power and hot/cold settings have a tendency to break. Well my vent-power one or whatever you want to call it works fine. but the hot/cold knob turns left to right almost as if its not even attached to anything. ALL the vents also constantly blow out hot air no matter how cold i have it set too, AC on or not. So im thinking the knob broke when someone tried to go from hot to cold now i have permanent hot lol.

my question is, how can i fix this? Is taking apart the whole dash nesscesary or can i just take out the plastic covering surrounding the control panel area? If so, how hard is it and is fixing the dial possible? I would really love to be able to get some cold air in those vents before summer hits. or at least have a way to make them stop blowing out hot air 24/7. thanks for any help guys!

the knob just pulls right off. It cost like 5 dollars for new one if its broke. If you want the heat off now then go under hood an follow the heater core hoses behind the engine and there is a little valve with a cable hooked to it. check to see if cable is broke cause thats what bypasses coolant to an from heater core. Whether it is broke or not just get a pair off pliers and turn the valve. That should shut the coolant off from heater core. Thats what your hot cold knob controls. Sorry i should say If that cable is not broke just pull your knob off and turn to cold with pliers inside car and if cable is broke turn the valve.

I don't know if a cable is a part of it, but the valve is operated by a lever. If you remove the intake tube you can see it.

Yes there is a cable attached to the lever wich goes from there to the temp control knob. If the cable is broke you will have to pull the ac/heater cotrols outa dash to replace the cable. I have never seen one break but the knobs are notorious for breaking due to either valve under hood sticking or just people excessivly turning knob to far. Its really thin plastic on backside so abuse it an it will break very easy.

Just grab the knob and pull it off and inspect. The knob will still turn even if its broke. If you can turn it back an forth and and its not broke then check cable. Its not that hard to change cable just time consuming cause you have to pull your dash trim ( The back peice around the cluster and radio which is one peice and also easy to break if not careful) and to do that i beleive you gotta also pull the center console peices cause i think two or four of the screws are under ashtray assembly but i can't remember at this time. The haynes manual gives step by step how to remove.

if your knob just broke off, there should be a silver thing that the knob came off of. yu can take a pliers and turn that for the time being . thats what i did when my knob broke off .
