ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Fan doesn't work

The heater fan on my 91 doesn't work. I checked all the fuses and they're all good. The lights on it all come on, but the fan doesn't blow. No a/c, no heater/defroster. Is there a way to check if it's the motor that's burnt out? Or could it be the switch? How do I tell without replacing everything? Please help, foggy windows suck!!

probably the blower motor. Its located under the pass. side glovebox. There is a resistor on the side of the blower motor cage, you can try checking the ohms on that but either way, the entire blower motor cage has to come out to remove/check any of those components

there is a troubleshooting flowchart in the Helms manual for this. Maybe someone on here can post it for you. I don't have an electronic copy, just a paperback. Sorry!

I talked to a guy at a shop by my house. He said it could be the fan motor or the switch. Does anyone know how to test each one, so I don't replace something that isn't broken??

the fan only has ground and power..... so just touch the power wire to the + battery terminal..... if the fan doesn't turn on then get a new fan at autozone for $50...

yeah oem fans flow at like....270-280 cfm.... but because it comes with a shroud it makes it really efficient.

your universal 12" fans at autozone and ect flows much higher... IIRC they are almost always +600cfm...

if it is the fan, i think i'm gonna check the junk yard first. they had a lot of accords, maybe ill get lucky...depending on how much they want for it.

Set the fan speed to max and test the 2 wire plug by the passenger kick panel. There should be 12V. If there is 12V and the blower doesn't work at any speed, the blower motor is dead. If the resistor was dead, it should still work at max speed.

When the motor dies, it's almost always the brushes inside that have worn out. If possible, it is a better bet to buy a new motor as the junkyard ones are just as old (unless you get lucky and find one with a motor that was just replaced). I only say this because these cars can be a pain in the ass (especially the ones with A/C) to swap out as you need to remove the whole blower box from under the dash unlike the older and newer Accords where you can just pop the motor out from underneath.

Right on, I'll get out the meter and check it out. I'll just buy a new fan if that's the problem. Thanks again for all your help fellas!!
