ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Open Header/Downpipe

Hey guys so my h22a is ready to run and will probably be up by today or tomorrow. My exhaust is short by like half a ft between the dp and catback. The question is will running open header or open downpipe be bad for the car. Also I was planning on going to the track sunday as they are letting us have a day session for $20!!!

If you were just going down the street to get it fixed I would say drive it but if you are going to track I would not do it.

ya I figured that but I probably won't have it fixed anytime soon. So was wondering if there were any cons other than I will loose lots of low end torque and be loud as hell

if ran too long with out proper exhaust you run a risk of warping a exhaust valve. not worth the risk , by far.

I did this on a v8 before it sounded bad ass and felt bad ass till I COOKED them valves not fun at all. Ohh and im partial deff because of this to not worth it at all. Down the street to get fixed ok but long distance and joy rides wouldnt risk it.

ive seen open header h22a do better like that then with exaust we run our car like that at the track and do better times...then with exhaust

If you have the downpipe installed, I see no reason why the exhaust valves would ever get burned. It's only those with no header or no downpipe that risk burning valves.

People put exhaust cut-outs between the downpipe and cat.....essentially an "open header"

Came from hmotorsonline. Ya I've decided to pass on the racing for now until I feel safe with my car.

I'm only running open dp until next week. I'm getting some piping and welding flanges on the ends to complete the exhaust. The only commuting I will be doing is to school which is a 5 min drive. So basically I can't run hard because it's new and also because I have potential in burnin my exhaust valve. Will there be any heating problems when having a exhaust that short?

I run open dp on the steet every once in a while but boosted. N/A with open header is way too loud IMO. I wouldn't do it, everyone is going to be looking at you plus what if there is a cop behind you or beside you? he'll know right away by the smell and the sound that it's not just an exahust leak lol
