ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Want To Go Turbo!!!

What all do i need for engine mods before installing a turbo? I have Aftermarket Fuel Rail/Injectors, Plugs & Wires, Cold Air, Intercooler, Exhaust Engine Back, Pullies, Stage 2 Clutch, Thinking about putting in a S2000's 6speed Tranny I already have the car for the parts but that might take more work than I want to do atm. Any thing yall can help me out with this? Again the question Was what do i need to put in a turbo tell me if i miss anything (Turbo, Blow Off Valve, Vacuum Manifold, Down Pipe, Wastegate, Intercooler, Fuel Pump, Injectors, Oil Drain and Feed Line Kit, Good Plugs)

Do I need a programmable chipped ecu?

So now what am i forgetting?

Just buy every part you can think of and throw it at the car. Literally... just lob it in the general direction of your car and see what sticks.

OR, do a bit of research and buy the proper parts. You are getting WAY ahead of yourself, and chances are, half of the parts you have are parts that you don't need...

That fuel rail is useless. You don't need to upgrade that. The injectors you have... what are they? What flow rate? You'll need colder plugs for turbo, I'm sure. Wires... if you have some gimmicky wires, you're probably losing power. The stock ignition components are good for 500hp at least.
Your exhaust would be best at 3"... and "engine back" means that you'll be scrapping a few things, such as your header and downpipe.
That "Stage 2" clutch is probably a good choice, if it's a quality brand. If it's some cheapie $100 ebay clutch, then you're going to eat that in a month with turbo, I'm sure.

S2000 transmission? You DO realize that the S2000 is RWD, right?

Yes, you'll need a programmable ECU for turbo.

My advice... go into the Forced Induction part of this site. Look at the "sticky" thread at the top, that lists the most powerful cars on the site. It may be outdated a bit, but it'll be enough. Look up the Members Rides threads of all of those members' cars. Look through their setup. Find one that you like... and just copy it. Learn what each and every part does, and WHY. Then buy those parts. Make adjustments as you go along... as you learn what you want, and what things will give you what you want.

Damn Deevergote, I was about to comment on the fact of the S2000 tranny being RWD.. beat me to the punch
Would it also be a good idea to forge certain parts of the bottom end to hold onto 500 horsepower for longer than a month?

Please do your research. its not enough to say i want to go turbo what do i need.

think long and hard about what your goals are. Most stock engines can be safely boosted and if tuned properly good for around 250-300whp.

first thing you should do if you are planning on making any power is to do a compression and leak down test to see how healthy the existing motor is. then give your car a good once over. replace any worn items as a boosted car with worn bushings, blown shocks, bad suspension or mounts isn't exactly safe. be sure the car is in sound mechanical condition before you start buying stuff.

read, read, and read some more. there is a ton of info out there if you know where to look. ask questions. learn how the parts work. a GT35r and a t67 are 2 completely different monsters and will give you totally differnent characteristics. be sure to go to a reputabble tuner to make sure that your ecu is programmed accordingly and have fun

you're basically doing the same thing that my friend did to his mustang.. for shits and giggles.. he took the cone filter off of his mustang and hooked up his electric leaf blower.. let's just say his motor didn't hold up too well. then again... I'm sure a leaf blower is pumping alot more air than a turbo.

are you rebuilding the engine or just throwing a turbo on one? cause if you like replacing your ending ever say 15k miles then ide rebuild it. also what psi boost are you gonna run cause on all stock internals and no rebuild i wouldnt do over 8. are you going to be resleeving the block? its expensive. do as dev says and research. im still in that area and been looking around for about 3 months, plus saving money.

holy crap GeoffM that thread gets intense lol.

                        turbo.

While we are thinking about throwing parts at your car...... go buy a 91 dsm already turbocharged, and probably ragged the **** out and get it for $800
sell your car and buy bolt ons to open it up.

You have a good platform to start with and you saved around $3000 or more and the headache that goes with getting it tuned. And the ease of mind knowing every part on that engine was designed for a turbocharged powerplant.

Even better if you love your CB7 cut your engine out, along with the ecu and wiring.

throw the dsm engine at it and see if it lands in their, if it does, and you can actually throw it, you'll be the first to take this easy route to turbo your car for reliabilty.

                        I'm not biased, I'm a realist.

If you want to run on stock motordisregard pistons and head gasket but i reconmend it being rebuilt boost will run down the motor allot faster if you run it on stock bottom end!
