ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Fuel gauge sensor question

Just bought a 91 EX coupe and the gas and temp gauge didnt work. I fixed the temp gauge(wire was loose) but when i called the parts shop for the fuel gauge sensor they said they dont carry it. Im wondering what the sensor is called??? Sounds like a noob question i know but ive been working on cars since i was 13 and now im 19 and i know alot about cars and always called it the gas gauge sensor. So what is it called? and can i only get it from Honda?

I thought the "sending unit" is what holds the pump and sends out gas...

if you go in the back right corner of the trunk there is a panel held down by 3 screws. Open it and thats where the gas gage float is,Take it out and clean it. That could fix it if not I would get a junk yard one. Honda should know what it is.

Thats it. To take it out you just open a panel in the back of the trunk. Its kinds trickey to get out of the tank. there is thin ring thing you have to hammer with a screw driver to get it to come out.
              This is it

Looks pretty simple. Just take off the cap and go from there. Now if i take out the old one is there a way i can save it instead of replacing it? Or should i just buy a new one?

You might be able to clean it up and it will work. Its easy enough to get to you might want to save some money and go to a junk yard.

I might try the junkyard because im low on cash at the moment. But does it matter which cb7 i get it outer? I know theres different motors so i dont know if they had different sensors as well

They should all be the same... I would take yours out and put it back in before you go so you know how to do it. Its kinda trickey to get it out as far as unmounted.

I would go to the JY and learn there. You ALWAYS try a new procedure on the donor car so you don't mess up your own car.

I am in arizona and I cant be in the junkyard for more then an hour before I get dizzy and dehydrated so I like to know what I am doing before I get there and have all of the tools I will need.

Its just weird getting it out. There are some tabs you have to bend and you have to hammer this ring around to get it to come out.
