ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

When car is cold it bogs on 20% throttle

But only sometimes. When I am going to take off it will just not have any power and it will have a little bit of a miss sound but when I give it alot of gas my car taked off like everything is fine. It only does it sometimes when my car is cold.
When it worms up it is perfectly normal.
Kai just helped me set the dizzy timing a few days ago so its perfect
I was thinking it could be my dizzy, plugs or wires.
I have never changed my plugs wires or dizzy. but the wires are aftermarket
when I got the car it had a cam position sensor problem so I swapped the cam position sensors form another dizzy that fixed that.
The plugs where good when I got the car and I have put like 30k on but I doubt plugs would do that.
    Any other ideas?

If you have already cleaned the fitv and iacv, I would look at your wires and see if they need replaced. I had similar issues, it ended up being a crack in the coil wire.

The car idles fine. Ill change my wires.
Whats fitv. Do you mean the fast idle valve? If so I think its good. I might make a block off plate for it.

Yeah the fast idle valve. No need to block it off, just clean it. But its strange it only does it when cold...

And only sometimes when its cold. Have you ever gotten your air filter wet and it makes your car run funny, Its almost like that.

I would say fuel filter and plug wires. When my car was doing it, it didn't run right until after about 3k, severe bogging before that.

Really, Fuel filter? That does not explain only ~sometimes~ when its cold

I was thinking like a bad plug but thats a big maybe or a bad wire or a weak coil or something like that in the dizzy.

It is actually called the fast idle thermal valve....without the thermal part it may sound funny to be related to temperature. To the contrary, the FITV operates solely based on the engines coolant temperature. The colder the coolant/engine the more air the FITV should allow to by-pass the throttle plate. If it is out of adjustment it could cause some bogging issues.

Another issue could be a the EGR valve being stuck open or opening too early. (if your car is so equipped)

I understand. Should I just get or make a block off plate

Yeah, uh, don't know why I said that. Just look at the wires for now, if you don't mind a small shock you can run your hands over the wires and check for voltage leaks. You'll only get shocked if there are cracks in the wires. Also are your wires plugged all the way in, by that I mean are they flush with the valve cover?

What is the condition of your spark plugs? Are your tube seals in good shape, or are you leaking oil onto your plugs?

I'm thinking that maybe you have oil on your plugs that causes bogging and misfiring at startup... and once it burns off, the car runs normally.

I dont have oil in the spark plugs.
I put new wires on and I think that fixed it.
The car seems to run better. It use to shake like I had bad mounts at idle but it does not do it anymore with my new wires
                              I also rerouted them
