ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Check Engine Code 12?

Ok so recently my check engine light turned on (most annoying light ever!) and after checking the code it came out to 12 (one fast blink then stop then 2 slow blinks, correct me if that's not 12) and after doing research It comes out to EGR Valve. I have cleaned it and erased the code but came back, then I got a different one and cleaned it and erased the code but still came back :-( anybody have any idea of what it could be ? Can this hurt my engine if I drive it for too long like that? ANY INFO MUCH APPRECIATED!! thank you

Slow blinks are 10, short blinks are 1. So if you're getting two long and one short, that's code 21... however, that's a VTEC code... what engine and ECU are you running?

I would always assume that you could hurt your engine by driving with a CEL on. Something is not working right, which means your fuel probably isn't burning correctly. In time, that can foul your plugs and o2 sensor, clog your cat, and in extreme cases, cause buildup around your valves that may lead to them getting stuck. OR, you could be running lean, which could mean engine-destroying detonation.

      Then wouldn't it be a code 1 (O2 sensor) and code 20 (?) ?

That's what it sounds like to me, if the fast blink is coming first. I believe CEL codes always come with the slow blinks first.

I bet there's a decent pause between the fast one and the two slow ones...

1 is o2 sensor, and 20 is what... electrical load detector (had to look that one up).
In a brief search, it seems that the ELD is in the under-dash fusebox... but that's all I've come up with. I never had an issue with that myself.

Ok then it should be one long blink and 2 short, if that's the correct way to put it, and it's a stock f22

Well which one is it exactly?

This is the way you described it in the beginning, 1 short flash then a pause then 2 long flashes. That means that there are two codes, 1 & 20.

Or is it that you actually saw 1 long flash + 2 short flashes = code 12?

You don't change the CEL flashed to fit what you think is the issue, you read the codes and fix the issues given.

1long flash+ 2short, sorry I described it wrong in the beggining
The "pause" I stated is too insuffiecient to be a second code

Code 12 is for EGR. You could have a bad EGR valve, a leaking vacuum hose, bad EGR lift sensor, or the sensor in the "black box" on the firewall. All the light means is that the ECU is not seeing the EGR lift when it tells it to.

Should pick up a shop manual to help you out. The Helms manual has the troubleshooting procedures for all of the DTC 12 related sensors & solenoids.

Can anyone explain or show me a picture of the EGR valve location?

The little item in the lower left corner, under the throttle body, with the metal clip on it is the EGR valve. It has a vacuum line and a plug on it.
