ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    valves sticking

i was wondering if anybody knew a possible way to get my valves from not sticking.
when it idles the engine shakes very bad, but once i rev the engine up to about 2k rpms its smooth as can be. only the valves on cyl 4 are sticking tho.

    umm

Just curious on how you came to this conclusion? From the description it sounds like an idle or timing problem.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to know the steps you took to verify your cylinder #4 valves are sticking. Which is the cylinder closest to the distributor correct?

Also which valves, intake or exhaust?

it does sound like a spark issue, but when i removed the head for a head gasket i noticed that the exhaust valves on cyl 4 were not closing all the way but would close. i was going to replace the seals which i have but have not got the chance to replace. might not be the seals but i also have an extra pair of valves from a previous f22a build. just wondering if there would be another easier solution to try.

        hmmm

it is possible that your valves are sticking open, but to verify that it is something with that cylinder and not just something external I would do a compression test.

if you think they are stuck open quite a bit you can unplug the distributor and do ghetto compression test.

with the distributor unplugged turn the car over with the ignition 4 times. If all of them happen evenly and the same sound is heard you passed the ghetto version of the test.

A real comp test is preferable, but I have used that little guy in the "field" literally to diagnose a bent valve before.

replacing a valve is a lot of work if its not the problem lol.

x2 on compression test. A leak down test would be more accurate though. Then if you find that they are sticking open. I would imagine that you could do a valve adjustment. Could be that the valve adjustment maybe a wee bit tight on those valves. Or did you already do a valve adjustment when you replaced the head gasket?
