ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

This is what I did to determine if it was my motor or not . I ran powe straight from the battery to the
motor . If the motor kicks on then check to see if your geting power to the switch . If you are then
Its the switch if not then it might be the module in the door. Check that for power. it could be just a
fuse or a relay. Good luck

I usually start checking for power with a test light or multimeter. It will usually help track it down quickly. A few things to remember:

If the switch is bad or a broken wire somewhere you can do as above and run a jumper wire to it just to get the glass up until it can be properly fixed.

If you are taking your inside door panel off for something go ahead and unplug the switch. if you let panel hang by the wire you will cause a short in the switch. Trust me..

If still no luck, if you need to get the glass up until being repaired, you can remove the 2 ten mm bolts from the glass to the regulator, raise the glass all the way up, and jam a price of wood under until getting it fixed. This is not recommended at all. But sometimes if you drive your car every day, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Oh, and this is obvious but a friendly reminder, if your not getting power to the switch, remember to check the fuse. These things can be imitadating, but simple if you access one issue at a time.

And most important of all, when testing the regulator, keep your hands and fingers, away. These things will break fingers.

I had my window get stuck completely down. I had toyed with the windows in my old cb and knew how to fix it temporarily. What I did not take into consideration is the 10mm nuts holding the window, were out of reach.. I had to cut holes in the door in order to get them out and raise the window.

Thank you guys, may your children be blessed. Popping off the panel after school today, but the sun might be down even by then. That's the biggest battle when trying to work on the car in winter, the cold and lack of light.

I had the reverse of this problem (but possibly the same solution).

My window was up and did not go down.

You need to be in a quiet environment (to listen for the slightest of sounds that the motor is try).

I did this in the middle of the night when its most quietest (less or no traffic on the road). Almost always i would say its a stuck window (not a broken motor), particularly if you have noticed the window moving progressively slower over time before finally not moving at all.

I suggest spraying some silicone (high grade silicone or ones they specifically say is automotive use and safe for seals, rubbers etc). Others may disagree but frm experience it works and is best as it conditions the surfaces of the rubber making contact with the window (which have lost their smoothness and have become grippy)

Let it penetrate and while someone operates the switch you hold with the palms of your hands facing each other on both sides of the window to push in the same direction as the window switch is operated.

You may need to do this several times to dislodge the window.
