Ok so I went to the dealer to get the valve cover gasket but they wanted 25 bucks for it so i was looking on rockauto to see what other options are available, and there are quite a few. I was wondering which one of these gaskets do you guys recommend?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Valve cover gasket

A 25$ valve gasket is not a bad deal plus the OE honda one will ultimately fit the best. I know when I rebuilt my head I used all OE parts and gaskets/seals. These parts were designed by the OEM that R&D'd the car you drive so they are the best (for a stock rebuild).
If you really must buy a cheaper gasket, any Autozone or Pep Boys etc. will carry a gasket for it that will fit just fine, just add a little black RTV silicone to the corners (where ever the gasket has a 90degree bend like where it goes over the cam). Make sure you get a gasket that comes with, or get seperate, the grommets for the top (4) and the spark plug seals in the valve cover on the back side(4).

I just replaced my upper and lower seals (leaking oil into spark plug wells, its all dry now :P) dizzy gasket and valve cover gasket, and the oil pan gasket. I used all oem honda replacements to do the job. That was in november and everything is dry and clean. It may be a little more expensive but I think it is worth it.Originally posted by lilg4mdalbc View PostOk so I went to the dealer to get the valve cover gasket but they wanted 25 bucks for it so i was looking on rockauto to see what other options are available, and there are quite a few. Well you guys do got a point, oem is better, but how important is the RTV silicone? Cuz when I changed my lower tube seals and adjusted my valves, I scraped all of it off where it used to be. I mean the gasket still seems good(its still flexible and not dryed up or brittle) so it could be this right? I mean I wanna do things right and make sure it stops leaking but if I could avoid spending those 25 dollars, id rather spend them else where like a new fuel filter or something.

^^ Yea its just a little added securityOriginally posted by HardInThePaint View PostU shouldn't be using silicone on those lower or upper tube seals. I don't use it period on the valve cover and I've changed many of them and never had any leaks at all. Some cats throw a dab or two on the corners and whatnot tho.

I just got done saying people use the shit on the corners, whenever u get thru runnin your meezy. Didn't nobody ever questioned the use of the silicone.Originally posted by 92exa6 View PostUs "cats" that apply Hondabond to the cam cap area do so because Honda does so and specifies it in the service manual.
