ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

why would you drive with the gas light on in the first place ?Originally posted by Benne1016 View Posthas anyone ever tried to keep going when ur gas light comes on? if so how many more miles can you get out of it with the gas light on? Anyone....?

The gas light usually means you have 2 gallons of gas left. Depending on the condition of your motor, should get 25-30mpg. Personally I have never ran my car dry because I heard its bad for the fuel pump. You never know what is in the bottom of the tank and what could damage the pump.Originally posted by deevergoteNobody says "Ebonics" anymore... i just wanted to try and see how much mileage i get out of it....running til empty, thats all. Today i filled it up, and it had 415 miles on it. i almost the 500 mark one time....but of course that can be done if im traveling far and ONLY going 60 mph.Originally posted by zmos86 View PostThe gas light usually means you have 2 gallons of gas left. Your right. Babying your car may improve mpg.
Personally, I can't drive my car below 3k rpms or 70mph. My shift points greatly affect my mpg, 4-5k rpm lol. I suffer from a condition know as lead foot and racing in my genes.Originally posted by deevergoteNobody says "Ebonics" anymore... I always push it... I have yet to run out of gas, but I've come DAMN close. Hell... my Fit's tank capacity is 10.6 gallons. I've actually put 10.7 in there once. That's how empty it was!
I usually risk 20 miles or so with the CB7, and I average 28-30mpg.
HOWEVER, running very low on fuel is bad for 2 reasons:
1) Any sediment or water in your tank will not have very much fuel to float in... and while a small amount of either can pass harmlessly through the system (or be stopped by the filter), a bunch of either in one dose can cause serious damage.
and more importantly
2) Your in-tank fuel pump is cooled by the fuel in the tank. Therefore, if you let your tank get low, the pump can overheat. This will obviously shorten the life of the pump, which, for most of us, is already 20 years old. It's best to keep your tank above 1/2 whenever possible.

Your gas light should come on at 4 gallons left, IIRC. It's been a while since mine worked. I know my car and my gas gauge. Once it hits the line, I have 3-4 gallons left, so usually another 120 miles.Originally posted by Benne1016 View Posthas anyone ever tried to keep going when ur gas light comes on? if so how many more miles can you get out of it with the gas light on? 37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car
Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

The gas light in my wagon comes on with 2-2.5 gallons left (starts to slightly glow at 2.5 gallons)... My sedan would start to glow at 4 gallons.
I can estimate what my fuel economy is based on where I am at half a tank and then extrapolate to when I will run out of fuel.
In my sedan I could get 500 miles per tank pretty easily, if I wanted to push it.
My sedan would get 32-34mpg pretty easily. My wagon, the best I've seen is about 31 (granted I haven't done any hypermiling techniques with the wagon.) I typically see about 26-28mpg.
(my cars mentioned above are both f22a6 with 5spd trans, wagon has shorter gears)
-2 cents.
