when i cleaned my air filter the other day i noticed that there was oil in the filter and intake pipe. What could be causeing that?

It's normal to have a bit of oil in the intake system, but if its alot it is signs of excessive blow by.

Take a look at your pcv valve and the hose that runs from the pcv to the intake manifold. Sometimes the hose collapses and that will cause all of your blowby to go on the other side of the throttle body causing oiling in the intake tube and filter box.Comment

Bad valve seals would cause excessive oil burning as seen by a blue tinted smoke from the exhaust. Depending on which piston rings were bad it could cause this problem if the pcv valve couldn't keep up with the excessive pressure in the crankcase.Comment

Yes which is blow by and engines this old will have it some alot worse than others i had a bit of blow by on my last build and it was healthy and produced no smoke at all, but still had more blow by than it should have.Originally posted by Accord problems View Post
