ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    not starting...distibutor?

So today I did some fluid checking. Oil, trans., cleaned the intake a bit. Drove down the street and the car shut off. I tried to restart it and no go. Check all the usuals. Spark plugs sparked. Loosened the nut on the fuel rail. And there was fuel. It would crank but not turn. So I sprayed some ether (aka quick starting fluid) and nothing. Pulled off the distributor cap and it was full of oil. So I'm narrowing it down to that. Does that sound about right. Is there anything else. I'm low on cash so I'm going to the junkyard to pull a distributor. With work tomorrow it has to be done fast. I just want to get more suggestions to try if the distributor isn't the problem.

If the distributor was full of oil, then that's definitely the best place to start. If it's not the only problem, it's definitely part of it... and it and the seals definitely need to be repaired or replaced.

Ya I was attempting to take the modulator and basic guts from my f22b distributor but when it boiled down to it I was not confidant in my low automotive skills and would hate to do more harm than good. My next thought would be injectors but that would mean all 4 fail at once which seems unlikely. I'm 98% sure that's my issue any other thought on where to check

Crank it, pull a spark plug, and smell for fuel. If you smell fuel, the injector works.

All 4 injectors are unlikely to fail at once... but the injector resistor box can fail. I've only seen it happen once on here, but at 20 years old, anything can fail!

Under the steering column. Correct? And does that control fuel and spark?

If the ecu is blinking a red light at you, is your check engine light on? It sounds like you should jump the service connector with a paper clip and check for codes.

Oh and if you sprayed ether/starting fluid into the intake, and it did nothing, it is most likely an ignition related issue. Check the coil, and igniter first... but only after you fix the oil leak into the distributer.

ya i found out that the tcu was blinking. i have had the sport light blink for a while i now have replaced distributor fuel pump main relay and used a another ecu thinking that the ecu was fried and not allowing the systems to work. and nothing i have NO SPARK AND NO FUEL. i was told to check the ignition switch but would a bad switch cause the fuel and sparking to work or is it not turning power to the ecu.

i would think that the ignition switch could cause this(not positive though) because if the car thinks its not trying to start why would it push gas or spark.. find a way to test it, also check relay's/fuse's(you just never know)

Ya I wasn't sure about ignition switch. I checked all fuses and relays. I have it in a shop right now.

what about the timing? pull the cap off the block and check if its aligned, i had a car that had this same problem except it would wait till i turned it off, then be B**** to turn back on, and i found out it was the distributor i guess this year accord had a recall on the distributor, so it could be just spark, does it crank at all? battery posts on tight?
