ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Car intermittently won’t start

Hey, I have a ’91 Accord, all stock. I was at the store last night, parked it for about 5 minutes, and when I went out and put the key in, and turned it to the II position, the dash lights wouldn’t come on. When I crank the car, the dash lights all come on, but the engine wouldn’t stay running. I cranked it again, and the car ran fine. This morning my sister had a tough time starting it, same symptoms but it got her to school. Later this morning I took the car and was driving, and it completely died. No dash lights or anything, but the electric seat belts and stereo still work. If I hold the key a little past the II point, the car will stay running. It kinda sucked, a friend and I went off campus and was worried we would be stuck but I managed to drive it back to school and home again. Besides a sore wrist, I definitely think it is something with the ignition but don’t have much of an idea beyond that. Has anyone heard of similar symptoms?

It is likely the ignition switch is going bad on you.
I had to keep the key in between II and start position in order to keep engine running when it happened on my LX. Right hand on the key. Left hand on steering wheel and shift change. Round trip to Auto Zone for replacement switch.

Yup, that’s what I did, back to school then down to my buddy’s shop. I was worried I was going to walk back to school but I thought it through. Fortunately I didn’t have to shift, mine’s an automatic. I’d fix it myself but he was able to get the part today and get it fixed. I’d fix it myself but I need the car running more than I needed the $50 or so it was for labor. Nothing like a friend discount.
