ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    10 year old reman motor...

Hope this is the right place to post this. I have found a d16z6 motor for free.the motor has been in a box, in a shed for about 10 years. I have no need for it and would like to get rid of it, but I wanna make sure every thing is ok. What type of things should I check for and what things could go bad from sitting so long? Oh and it's a reman and still bolted to the Wood pallet. I just don't wanna sale it and then get a call that it locked up on the person in a week. Thanks guys.

No there was no plastic and as you can see the mice loved it too.

Reman? Well since there is an exhaust manifold gasket there I'd say you just have a used motor, 20 years oldish? Maybe it was pulled because its bad, or maybe Someone swapped in a different motor. I'd say pull the valve cover and see what the inside of the head looks like and try and turn the crank to see if it turns. Could be worth scrap, could be worth a couple hundred hard to say.

Maybe find a local buyer and agree to refund some if it ends up having low compression or something.

That's why I was asking cause I have a guy that might want it. Don't wanna go into the story again but I got a shed full of Honda stuff and i'm still going through all of it. I was sure hoping when I seen the box that it was a h22. But maybe this stuff will help get me closer to my goal.

From the sounds of it the guy that left all these parts behind probably did work out of his shed/driveway. I would take a guess that most of the parts are probably parts that have been swapped out.

I am basing this off the fact that everything was just left there and that engine does not look like a fresh rebuild. Probably is the old motor that was replaced by the engine that came in that crate. That's what we always used to do when ever we swapped out engines. The old one went back into the crate and was shipped out for recycling.

Only way to tell for sure is to crack open the valve cover, as mentioned, and see what it looks like. Make sure before you try and turn the crank over by hand that you pour some clean motor oil down the spark plug tubes. this will help the dry rings from breaking or scratching the cylinder walls if they are seized.

Hopefully I'm wrong and you did hit the parts pot of gold.
