Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Engine shake, stability problem..

Hey guys I have an f23 swapped into my 91 sedan, the engine shakes a bit when idoling and also right before coming to a stop. All the engine mounts are in place and the bolts are all there, I was wondering if there is another way to stabilize the engine better? thanks

What mounts did you use? The stock mounts or the mounts for the f23?

I believe we used the stock mounts, I dont really remember lol, why would this make a difference?

Because the mounts are designed to reduce the engine vibrations felt inside the car. Just because the mount is there does not mean its good.

So what you're saying is that if it is the f22 mounts still in it that could be the cause? if I switched to the f23 mounts would it make a difference?

I don't think the F23 mounts will bolt into place. How old are the F22 mounts? maybe the rubber is all dry rotted and need to be replaced if they haven't already.

Judging from the buddy I bought the car from, seeing as it only had 2 owners, I am going to say its safe to assume that the mounts are the oldest of the old, probably the ones the car came with, they didnt seem that bad when we put them in though, but maybe I could be wrong

No. What he is saying is that the mounts being bad could be your problem.

Personaly, from what you have said, i agree. I would install new engine mounts.

What are your rpms at when it shakes? I wouldn't replace the mounts yet. I had a very large vibration in my car, the mechanic convinced me it was a bad motor mount... 250$ and a new mount later, it didn't fix a darn thing... I only recently found out I had 2 burnt/broken exhaust valves which gave 2 cylinders next to no compression making it shake like hades.

So just be on the safe side and check the rpms that they're not too low. Mine were extremely low when it started to shake.

You may have a leaking vacuum hose or a bad / gummed up IACV.

$250 for a motor mount? Did they at least give you a courtesy reach around or use some lube?

He would feel a loss of power when driving it if cylinders were jacked up, he only claims it vibrates.

Always use F22 mounts for any F or H swap. Never use the mounts from the donor car.

i'm also having the same problem with vibrations at idle. So I replaced ALL my mounts with new ones and it still shakes. i've done a full tune up and still nothing so i am still looking into the problem. Long story short it MIGHT not be the mounts

Yeah this one shop I went to is a total rip off. This is why I hate going to some mechanics now, they just wanna throw parts at it instead of seeing what is actually wrong.

So I have ripped down my entire engine and am half way done with a rebuild. I'll only go to a reasonable mechanic from now on that I know of, not that rip-off mechanic who doesn't know how to fix your car.
