ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Start up issue(HELP ASAP)

scenario: yesterday was pouring rain and right in front of my home is a deep water flood. Well the only way to get through was to stay on first all the way through, its possible i might have had some water get in through the exhaust, but my car was fine until i pulled up before my house then it died, kept cranking and after 3 long cranks it started.( next problem was on full throttle it bogged) so i made it home and couldn't check the problem due to pouring rain and next morning it started fine, i made it to my work parking lot and then it died out again. Now it seems to have a hard time starting and when it does i shut it off to start again and it won't start. sorry for the long story but had to explain it for you to understand.

you have to tell us the engine, year of the car, are you lowered or stock, was the rain coming down like hurricane type rain or just a midwest thunderstorm?

Either way, i'd keep the distributor wires attached to the cap but take it off and check to see if there is water/moisture in there.

well I drive a 93 accord-F22A6 andI live here on Guam which is an Island and it rains pretty much year round but the rain yesterday was heavy. I haven't checked the wires that go to the distributor yet but I did open the distributor cap and checked the possibility of water getting in and it didn't so (Checking the wires) is on my list. I (checked the coils for spark) and all four are good. Thank you for your help.Anything else I might need to check?

just trying to get as much feedback because i'm here at work with no other transportation.

Do you have a stock intake or aftermarket of some sort? How deep was the water you drove through? i'm hoping that somehow you didn't manage to suck water into your engine through the intake.

I have the stock intake box but I had removed the tubing that leads down the side of the fender and radiator support

Lets say I did get water in through the intake, would the outcome be what im experiencing now, which is that the car is still cranking over and gets closeto staring and when it does start, I still have a steady idle and everything sounds good. What is the outcome if it possibly cake through the exhaust?

well i googled the symptoms of a hydrolocked engine and this guy at a celica forum was experiencing the same thing but he had an aftermarket intake.

also stop cranking the engine. if there is water still in the engine, by cranking it, you are making matters worse.

Well I guess I have two options so far which is check distributor wires and air box filter. If anyone can give me more suggestions or needs me to explain more I would greatly appreciate it.

if you can, check the spark plugs one at a time to see if there is moisture on them.

You'll have to hang in for a couple of hours because it's almost 2am here so a lot of people are going to be asleep now.
