I installed a short ram intake on my f22a4 and there isnt a place for the vacuum line running from the air boost valve. Is it possible to remove this valve/block it off? i feel like ive read things about people blocking them off but i dont know for sure. thanks

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

If your going to bypass it, you should go the stealth route. Just cut up a aluminum can in the shape of the flange, punch two holes in it to line up with the bolts, and sandwich your new "block-off plate" between the air boost valve and plenum.
NOTE: When working with anything similiar to sheet metal, it is highly recommended that you wear gloves to prevent cutting yourself.

And keep in mind, they designed the abv(air boost valv) for cold starts... my new AEM intake didnt come with a nipple to accept the vacuum line from the abv either, but it came with a very small piece of filter that you twist it and put in the nipple of the abv. This valve is actually kina important if you live in a cold area.

Ok so I have a question about this valve how exactly does it work? Does it cause vacuum? if so when and why? I understand it is to help during cold starts but I'm trying to figure out why someone hooked the IAB hose onto this valve on a h23 intake mani. Does this actually work with it hooked up this way I have not put it on my car yet so I do not know myself and would like to find out before doing so.

I'm a little confused here. I know with my A6 (back when I had it) the only thing that went to the intake pipe itself was a rubber hose coming from the valve cover. On JDM H22's the air boost valve is actually blocked off from the factory and not used. Maybe I'm missing something but I just can't remember a hose that came from the intake to the air boost valve.

It seems like whoever hooked it up that way wanted to disable both the IAB plates and the air boost valve. The air boost valve works on a very little amount of vacuum from the air intake and keeps your idle from surging under driving conditions which can happen when you have too much vacuum hooked to the valve. With the way it is set up now, you could remove your air boost valve and strip the IAB plates without changing the way your car performs now.Originally posted by Honda Power View PostOk so I have a question about this valve how exactly does it work?
