    tune up my car

I'm losing gas about 100 miles per tank its pretty ridiculous

I was asking my mechanic he said my spark plugs were really bad,

is there a certain brand i should buy for spark plugs or generic would be fine?

I don't mind spending extra money seeing its for my car's daily performance

How much should i spend for the service?

    ngk plugs only.

all the rest use oem honda parts.

As stated, use NGK plugs. You may also want to check your intake/exhuast systems as well. A Loss of 100 miles/tank is pretty big. May sure your fuel injectors are clean and nothing is wrong with your fuel system. If all works out, you should gain that 100 miles back.

i have the same problem with mine. Couple of months ago i could make an easy over 400 miles per tank and now its gotten to a point were i can barely make it past 300. iv replaced all the basic tune up parts like Sparks plugs, wires, distributor cap, and button TPS sensor and a few vacuum lines and still no deviation from wat it is burning. IM baffled by it myself.

Seafoam can also help. Helps remove carbon buildup and hesitation which will improve performance and efficiency.

Just in case your not familiar with this stuff here's a quick video on it:

Do you have any fuel leaks? On my sedan the high pressure fuel line rusted through. I got about 150 miles (I think) on that tank. I could smell fuel and the fuel system would pressurize before starting the car.

Is someone stealing you gas at night? It's been known to happen.

lol well that would be no bueno. Yes i smell fuel all the time but i checked the lines no problems think the fuel could blow out of the fuel injectors like a o ring seal leak?

have you checked your fuel lines with the engine running?

mine was SPRAYING under the car in front of the left rear wheel. And, I was leaving a stripe down the road.....

+1 to the rusted fuel line in the rear. I had mine rust through at the banjo fitting. I cut the line and used a high pressure rubber hose with hose clamps. Works great. I too was losing about 100 miles on a tank of gas. If you smell gas you definately have a leak and it should be addressed ASAP! There is a plastic cover over the fuel lines behind the drivers rear wheel kind of under the car. Follow the filler neck down and you will see where I'm talking about. IMine was held on with 2 plastic and 2 10mm (I think) bolts/screws. Good luck.

Dude, don't pay for a tune up. If you're capable of posting on a forum about cars, you have more than enough smarts and dexterity to do it yourself and save money!

As said, check for leaks (if you're leaking fuel, you'll smell it if your nose works...)

Plugs: NGK or Denso. They're really about identical. Buy according to price. You won't need anything fancy like platinum or irridium. Just get regular plus. NGK V-Powers are a good midrange plug that'd be good to get. Even though they come pre-gapped, check all the gaps anyway. Sometimes they're not perfect.

Plug wires: I prefer OEM Sumitomo wires, but NGK "blues" work very well also. Don't buy into the hype of fancy expensive wires. They're often not even as good as the ones I just mentioned.

If either your plugs or plug wires have any oil on them, you're going to need to change your tube seals. There are DIYs on this site showing how.

Distributor cap and rotor: Generic autoparts store stuff works fine.

Fuel filter: Might as well get Honda here, to be safe.

Is your check engine light on? If so, that's doing two things: 1) showing that something isn't working properly, and therefore probably not giving you the best fuel economy, and 2) causing your ECU to run the engine in "limp mode", which is NOT very efficient. If the light is on, pull the code and fix the problem.

Two final things to take into consideration: How are your brakes? Dragging brakes can reduce fuel economy considerably. Old calipers can stick, and your e-brake can be dragging if not properly adjusted. Next, do you carry a whole lot of weight in your car? Lots of weight can increase fuel consumption considerably.

I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have any leaks but the cars been idling since i've gotten my car, at times it wouldn't idle (my cousin swapped the engine to a 92 prelude s f22b)

When he swapped the engine he changed most of the parts,

iv replaced all the basic tune up parts like Sparks plugs, wires, distributor cap, and button TPS sensor and a few vacuum lines and still no deviation from wat it is burning.
Do you guys think that i could just change the spark plugs ride out and see if that works or should i get ^ all that done as well

you can do a fuel system cleaner along with injector cleaner as for cleaning eng internals drain your oil get 2 oil filter's put on on add 4 qt's of kero let it run for 15 mins drain then change filter and dump fresh oil it will de grease the inside of your eng along with get rid of carbon build up.

Kero as in kerosene? That's a bad idea. Kerosene has 0 lubricating qualities and running that in your engine for 15min would be bad news bears. He would atleast want to use ATF...but I don't think he's trying to desludge.

If a full tuneup seems like a big task just do one thing at a time, and yes I would start with the plugs.

edit: If you do run kerosene in your engine it will most likely have more serious problems soon thereafter. Apparently it infact DOES have some lubricating properties but it's not something you would want to run for 15min. It's more like a solvent.

I LOVE when people take a dozen posts to tell us that the engine in their car is a swap that someone else did! Fantastic.
You're aware that the F22B is a JDM engine, not offered in the US market, right? Not a big deal, but there are things that are specific to that engine. Also many US mechanics may not touch it if they know it's not the original engine.

Do what was suggested, or take it to a mechanic. If we didn't think you should do the things we suggested, we wouldn't have suggested them.
