ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Blown strut/shocks?

Ive got two people in the backseat, and one side sits like this

    and the other like this

When they got out everything went back even. I jacked it up and everything looked ok to me. The shock absorber tube wasnt wet.

Is this common for a blown strut, or definitely something more serious?

put the fat guy on the otherside!

seems normal to me. i know my old 20 year old struts did that idk how old yours are.

What happens if your friends switch sides?

No offense, but is one of your friends a lot heavier than the other?

      Just throwing out ideas here...

That would be more spring than shock. I think.

Its my understanding that the springs compress and the struts damper the ride as the springs push them back up. If the struts are blown the car will bounce a lot after going over a bump. If they are good they will bounce once and then level out.
Are the springs the same brand? I know that seems stupid but Its been done.

Prob a pic of the setup with the wheel off would be better.

well....they are spec-D springs with a stock replacement strut, replaced a long time ago. So ive been watching the struts to blow any minute. I was wondering if this was finally it, if this was common for a blown one...if it is the springs, then I would have to change them

Push on that side of the car. If it bounces up and down its blown.

one and a half seems about right for stock struts. that what my old ones used to do. what brand of springs are you running?

which is at or below stock, if im not mistaken

hmm. ive never heard of spec d. they might be a "cheap" spring and one has a slight defect in the material it was made out of causing it to not be as stiff as the others

these springs are so cheap they're almost free bro. But I was on a budget, and i wanted to drop it. They ride a little better than cut springs, and i drove a car with those for a year, so i know how to ride it. I also wanted to make sure there werent any serious flaws in the car before spending money on it.

so only the spring would make only one side go down like that? it looked crazy from the back, dont have a pic

if they are that cheap then yes. more than likely that one springs is junk. it has a defect and is not as stiff as the others.

you car seems fine. no rust, dents, or anyother mechanical problems from what i can se. i would go ahead and start dumping money into it. GET QUALITY PARTS from now on. no cheap shit. do it right
