ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    White/Blue smoke from exhaust

Okay, first off I'm new to this forum stuff and new to Honda. I bought a 1991 Accord SE (164K miles) out of desperation and now I have a similar problem like others. I'm looking for advise from you experts out here in hopes I can resolve my issue. I don't know how many owners this car has had but everything is stock. I believe it has F22a6 engine. First thing I did was oil changes, 10W-30 motor and Honda trans fluid followed by a few cleaning tweaks to fix the high idle. No smoke at this point. Since their was oil going to spark plugs I then replaced new plugs, cables, o-ring gaskets under rocker arm, and valve cover. It was after this job that the smoke started, nothing while parked but while driving(Blueish). Big embarrassing cloud of smoke (White) every time at take off. It is burning a good amount of oil but I'm not sure if it was burning before I did the job. What else can I do to narrow down the problem?

if the PVC got damaged wouldn't that cause it to smoke from to much blow by of the PVC ?

also op keep in mind that the rocker arm assembly is not a solid peace. it will fall apart in your hands . it has done this to me several times.

          1. Blue smoke = burning oil
          2. White smoke = burning water/coolant

          1. Problem is in the valve seals or the piston rings
          2. Blown head gasket

First check your coolant for clues of mixing oil an coolant (greasy spots floating in the overflow tank, white residue (like majonese) on the oil cap, radiator cap and dipstick). If you find any of these simptoms then its the head gasket 100%.

also remove rad cap and let the car warm up . if you see contentious bubble's come up is a sign of head gasket .

Thank you guys, I knew could get some good ideas here. I'm definitely not getting any coolant/oil mix so I'm going to attempt the valve seals and see what happens. Also I left of, if it matters, that I changed the fuel filter and PCV valve during the tune-up. I will let ya'll know the results. Has anyone tried this method on the video by Illinois_erik?

I basically have always done it like that, but with the head off of the block and on my engine stand.

The spark plug socket/magnet trick looks pretty easy, but, as you can see those retainers are tiny and if you loose one you're shit out of luck. So, i have always just pulled the head and done a gasket jobby while I was at it. Also, the zip tie trick looks like it would work but a spring compressor tool isn't that expensive. I use a spring compressor.

First of I'd like to thank all of you that responded to my post. The repair shops were charging me almost $600 for the job and all i paid was $16 for the parts (seals). After 5 long hours of patience I got the job done and happy to report that I no longer have smoke coming out. I do not recommend anyone doing this with the head on but if you really need to, like me, then I recommend acquiring some replacement parts (bolts, springs, retainers, etc.) from the junk yard. FYI, A particular compressor tool would've helped but I got the cheap one from O'reilly. I had to use the zip tie method for 5 springs along the intake side due to the space. Thanks again!!

Cool bro, glad to help and proud of you for tackling it and getting it done. Im not positive on SOHC vs DOHC, but you can rubberband the rockers together and not lose the little springs and dowels when removed from the head for next time lol
