ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    1990 Auto TCM issue

Well I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX with trans issues. The transmission and tcm were replaced by a friend still no help has same issue so i used the paper clip trick and came out with code 15= speed sensor I knew the whole time speedometer wasn't working so i checked it and seems my friend forgot to clip it back to the harness i clipped it in took it for a drive now my speedometer works now no check engine light coming on randomly anymore. But trans still has same issues i check the tcm and compared it to my old one and opened it my old one was had burn resistors so its fried my new one is good but isn't the same my old one is pxo-921-m1 the one installed isn't burned at all but its a pxo-823-m1 could this be my issue? if so i will just opt in to order a good pxo-921-m1 from eBay... P.S my accord has sports mode its a 1990 so i don't know if a 823 tcu isn't right and does not support my car... and the issue is that i only have 2 gears d1 and 2 are the same gear and d3 and d4 are same gear and i have to manual select gears to get into them if i have the car in d4 as usual it takes off very slow and takes 30 secs or more just to get to 25mph at full throttle at 2,400rpm. I know for a fact i do not have 4th though im at 4000rpm going 70-75mph

I can barely understand what you are saying. If you replaced your VSS with a known good one, reset the ECU by cutting power (disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.) If it continues, your new VSS may be bad, your wiring may be damaged, or your TCU may be bad. Inspect the TCU for damage if everything else checks out.
Get a TCU for a 1990 Accord to be safe. A TCU from 92-93 may not work properly.

Check the link in my signature 'diy: 90-93 tcu fix'. Your newer tcu probably has leaking caps, the same reason your first one fried. If your in limp mode for the transmission, you should have a code stored, jump the service connector and read the flashes from the sport light. If it just stays solid, it means code 0, which means the tcu is bad. Even if you find a working tcu, this problem will most likely come back, so regardless your best replacing all the caps on any tcu you use in your car.

VSS was good my friend just forgot to connect it to the harness. I found it unplugged after looking through my engine bay. So I plugged it in took her for a drive and speedo works but trans doesn't work i jumped the service connector earlier that day and got code 17 check engine light flashes i thought it was just a bad or dirty VSS turns out to be unplugged the whole time. but nothing from the s light just blinks rapidly no stopping as normal. (I'll try to pull the battery and fuse today for a hour or so.) But what tcu should my car have if i order a new one ? 1990 Honda Accord LX Coupe the bad one before transmission swap was pxo-921-m1 but online i seen car should have pxo-922-m1 but i currently have a pxo-823-m1? I'll retry to jump service again if its bad tcu i'll just opt in to have one rebuilt after i get the right tcu model for my car.

Any TCU from a 90-93 accord will work just fine. Preferably if you would like to keep the feature of 'Sport Mode', then any 90-91 TCU would be ideal. Otherwise a 92-93 TCU will work just fine, Honda just compromised on the shift points, and probably adjusted some shifting logic also, but nothing major.

There are probably 4 different TCUs for our cars. Cars assembled in Japan, vs Ohio use different computers, and as also previously mentioned, differences between years 90-91 vs 92-93.

The TCU intended for use with your engine and transmission is the best.
