ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Exhausts

Hey guys, I am new and looking for an exhaust.

I found a guy on the interwebs who is selling a used greddy sp1 exhaust for $350. Should I go for it or save and wait for an Apexi or a tanabe I found?

    thanks!

Have you looked up the exhaust sounds of all the brands? Which do you like more, whatever one sounds best to you go for it.

I really like the Apexi ws2 the best, but If I can find a used Apexi or one similar to it, then I will get that. Thank you for the advice!

I have looked at that and I am considering that system. Thank you!

The Greddy SP1/SP2 will sound pretty similar to an WS2.....for $350 for a full catback, that's a good price IMO.

Another option is the Magnaflow 2.25" catback at $500 new. It's lighter than the Apexi WS2. Here is how it looks coupled with DC headers:

thanks guys for the help! I am leaning towards the Yonaka, Magnaflow or the Apexi. I want something that is quiet ( louder than stock, but can't hear a mile away or get in trouble). My question is...which is the quietest but with the most benefits?

The quietness will depend on what Cat and Headers you are mating to your exhaust, to a small extent. I can say that the Magnaflow system has a great resonator, thus creating a deep exhaust sound with few overtones, which makes it pretty quiet relatively speaking. There is no rasp or rattle if everything is securely fastened and the rubber fasteners you use are in good condition.

Between Magnaflow and Apexi, the WS2 is definitely quieter. The Magnaflow has a deeper throatier growl to it, while the Apexi I would say is more of a midrange smoother sound. It really comes down to preference.

Take into consideration that the Yonaka is a knockoff of the Apexi WS2. It sounds very similar, but after some time, its inferior quality will start showing. Generally after a year or two the packing begins to start deteriorating, making the exhaust louder and with not as good of a tone. I'd rather spend the money on an exhaust once, than have to deal with it again after only 2 years.

I have the apexi ws2. I have said this before in other posts.

If I had to do it over again. I would go for the kteller stainless piping 2.5 in, vibrant 1141 resonator and vibrant street power muffler.

The apexi sounds great don't get me wrong. but for retail of $700 the parts I listed above come out about 300 cheaper and will last just as long.

The apexi resonator hangs too low and will bottom out on speed tables/bumps plus the muffler seems to hang low to me. I just had mine tucked up some. I say some because the design on the resonator will not allow you to tuck it up too high without a cut and reweld of the resonator. Also I was under the impression it was 2.5 inch. I have bought several 2.5 inch pieces to fit into the exhaust and they are bigger than the apexi pipes.

                            my 2 cents.

You'll probably find that most japanese exhausts use metric tubing so for 2.5" in the US, the Japanese will use 60mm which is just a bit smaller in diameter.
