ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Questions on F22A1 Turbo Setup

    Good evening fellow CB7 enthusiasts!

So as the title says I have a some (noobish one could say) questions regarding putting a turbocharger on my bone stock F22A1.

    1) What are good brands for turbochargers?
    2) would it be easier to buy parts from kits to complete the build?
    3) how hard would it be to install the turbo and it's respective parts?

Any advice, guides, links to parts, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

    1) Garrett, IHI, Mitsubishi
    2) Yes. www.treadstoneperformance.com
    3) "How hard" is something we can't answer for you. The simple fact that you're asking that question leads me to believe it will indeed be too hard. You must learn a LOT more to build and install a proper turbo system. It's far more involved than simply bolting a turbo to your engine. You must upgrade your fuel system, make room for your charge piping, upgrade your clutch, and obtain a tunable engine management system (and either learn how to tune it yourself, or have it tuned by a professional.) Additionally, you must be sure your brakes and suspension are up to the task of handling the extra power... as even a moderate turbo setup can easily double the car's stock horsepower.

Additionally, turbocharging a bone stock F22A is a VERY bad idea. The pistons are not designed to handle the heat and pressure of turbo, and they will likely break in a short amount of time. Especially 25 year old stock pistons with well over 100,000 miles on them... Forged pistons are a must, unless you actually WANT to blow your engine up.

We have an entire Forced Induction subforum on here, as well as an ECU Tuning subforum. I suggest you spend a considerable amount of time in each. Look at what other people are doing. Use their parts lists as suggestions for your own setup. Understand what you're doing before you buy a single thing. Picking up a copy of Honda/Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima, as well as a copy of Maximum Boost by Corky Bell would also do you a world of good.
Also, any threads older than 5 years, take with a grain of salt. Many things have been learned about the F22A in recent years that people did not know back then. Stock-block turbo setups were once common, and thought to be reliable. We have since learned differently (all but a few that insist their engines are an exception... since they haven't blow up... yet.)

You are going to get the same answers here as you did this AM on H-T. These are 25 year old engines and boosting them is nothing new. All of the problems and fixes have been posted many times over. There are entire forums based on boosting F22 engines. Take some time reading them and then see what you think. The links posted by tishock above are a good place to start!
