ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Have you taken the crank pulley off yet? If not, it is required to get the lower cover off.

Keep struggling with it. It will sense your frustration and eventually release itself.

Also, make sure you are pulling from the bottom.

        wow, you guys suck.

Pulled A/C compressor off bracket and it rotated CW and came up out the front. Already had PS and Alt off.

Both of them offered useful information, actually. I'm pretty sure nobody is going to waste their time from here on out, though. Nobody wants to be told that they suck... which is a shame, because the two people you just insulted are very knowledgeable, and would have been able to help with your problem.

The advice given was spot on - you basically have to yank on the thing and move it around until it will free itself and slide out the bottom.

I've never had to remove any of the brackets from the front of the engine to get this timing cover to come out. Usually it's mess around with it for a few minutes until it rotates correctly and then it slides out the bottom fairly easily. I can't remember how to it has to be rotated to come out, so I can't comment on that but it seems like common sense. Not sure why the OP had so many issues...

I'm not sure where he was getting hung up at. (See what I did there?)

But hey, whatever works. Glad we could be of assistance.

never thought to remove the AC bracket, i usually just wrestle it out, knocking the gasket loose in the process (sucks). Then wrestle it back in, and attempt to re-seat the gasket while it's already in place (really sucks). I will need to try your way next time.

OP, may want to invest in a manual. They come in handy, hope this helps and I don't suck as well.

Okay, I'll eat some crow...... You guys rock and I appreciate the help.

I can see how the yanking will eventually work. But how to yank it back in without tearing up the edge seals?

I do have a manual and it just says "remove lower timing cover."

It came out easy after removing the 4 compressor bolts and moving the compressor out of the way.

Both CB7's I've had were missing the seal, but yes, it would be nearly impossible to reinstall it with the seal unless it was RTV'd together.
