ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

what oil and filter does anyone recommend for a jdm h22a? i heard mobil1 and 10w-30. but any other opinions or information about oil that anyone uses would be helpful. thanks.

I used normal oil for my first two oil changes. Then on my third change i went to synthetic blend and on my 4th i went full synthetic. Now i use Royal purple 10w30 but i hear Mobil 1 is pretty good too. As for filters i just use the normal STP filter but im prob gonna try a Hamp filter on my next change. I dunno if the s2k oil filter is useable on the h22a maybe it is i forgot.

I think there are two different size honda filters... prelude, h22, f20c etc all use the same one. IMO a filter is a filter, and oil is oil. Bought mobile 1 one time, and my dad used it... wont do that again

        I always use 10w30

Valvoline is the best oil for honda's.It leaves the inside of your engine clean as a whistle. And for the oil filter just go to honda and get an OEM honda
          oil filter.

any good quality oil, i prefer valvolive 10w30 standard oil w/ honda or wix ONLY. no additives. i NEVER used fram filters. i had 1 actualy seperate where the base is crimped to the body of the filter. may have beed a 1 on a billion thing, but it's not worth trying it again. working parts as long as i have, i've heard some horror stories about fram filters exploding simmilar to what mine did.

I'm running a mix of Valvoline Hard Driving synthetic blend (10w-30 and 10w-20, I think) Honestly, it feels better than it did with regular oil or Mobil 1. I'll stick to this type! I'm using a normap Purolator filter. Used a K&N filter one time, and it really didn't make a difference. I think unless you REALLY push your engine, there's no need for a high-performance filter. The S2k one DOES work.

Honda released a service memo stating that the S2000 oil filter is compatible on all Honda cars except the Passport and insight.

It is the same casing as the old style Honda filter, with a higher flow rate.

Castrol GTX for conventional motor oils, hands down.

Castrol Syntec or Mobil ONE full synthetic for synthetics.

As a note: Mobil ONE synthetic was originally designed for gas turbine engines, which are WAY harder on oil than your car could ever possibly be.

NAiL.......why do you spend $6 a quart on oil and skimp on a $2 oil filter that filters 30 micron at best. I've seen your members ride section and most everything on your car is top of the line.....I don't understand I used to be a Filter Rep for Genuine Parts (NAPA) and I've been through many seminars, seen the innards of many filters cut open fist hand and I'll have to say that Wix is probably the best mainstream filter out there. Mobil 1 is also in the top three but, cost is faily high for what you get, then Probably the Pure One by Purolator (the blue one not the regular white Purolator).

K&N is honestly just a "run of the mill" filter......the only real benefits you get is that it has a 1in hex tack welded to the end for ease of space constraints where you couldn't normally get a filter wrench and two small holes through the hex end so that you may safety wire it for racing applications.

Fram filters well as long as you don't get the Tough Guard with Teflon but they have issues with there build quality. As for STP, I wont even go there.....lets just say that STP doesn't even make their filters. Just some food for thought.....to each is their own.

BTW, if your still missing a tail pipe tip, PM me, I've got one OEM stainless EX tip left I could ship to you if interested.

The oil filter I've used since the start of changing my own oil is the s2000 oil filter.

Look for "Toyo Roki" writen on the side to be sure you have the right one. The honeywell filter (standard honda filter) is skinnier then the fat toyo roki.
Here is some reading for anyone intrested in what oil filters are good (note what his thought are on fram oil filters):

The Wix filters are probably the best aftermarket filter there is. Silicone anti-drain back valve for the win. But if these S2K filters are as good as everyone say they are, then I guess I'd go for that just because it's genuine Honda.
