ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Running Car

How long do you run your cars before you drive off?

    #2
Few minutes during the warmer months before taking off. In the winter time I'll get out there like 10 minutes before leaving and warm it up.

Initially you should wait until your car is at operating temperatures ie. @ IDLE.

For cold weather starts, --meaning, your car has not been started overnight, start it up, blast the heat, go back inside have a cup of tea and come back in about 10-15 mins and wait until your idle is perfect at 700-800.

Hot days? just drive off... the oil is warm enough

A minute or two unless its cold as mentioned. I keep my revs down so i can let the engine slowly warm up as im driving.

The extra gas you're wasting by having your car running at 1500rpm because you didn't let it warm up is about as much or less than the gas you'd be wasting by starting it and letting it warm up on it's own. I doubt it matters unless it's a cold day.

You know .. I believe there was a thread on this a few years back, and someone said
the same thing as Maple .. and got blllassted .. flamed, and hung out to dry ..

I myself do the same thing .. as you Maple .. afterall, it never gets that cold in S. Florida.
It got down to 30 something this winter, and I've actually spoken to several mech's
about this .. and have been told that with such a high rpm motor that we all have, its really
not very necessary, unless of course, you're living in sub freezing area's lol.

But I just crank her up .. put a few things down, grab my shades .. and off I go ..
                    Never an issue ..

                    A Hui Hou !!!

Depends. But usually I wait till the needle hits the first bar.

now that im living in the south i usually just get myself situated(put sunglasses on, turn on satelite radio, etc...) and im off.

when i was living up in ny i would let it warm up atleast 5 mins on cold days then take off. i would just keep the revs below 2500 til it fully warmed up.

I thought letting it idle for too long builds up carbon.
